slightly romantic gothic look!?

hey girls & guys!

my company is having a christmas party tomorrow (i know- haha!), and there's a dress-up-theme: slightly romantic gothic.

i'm not new to the goth scene (i had my phase), but do not feel like dressing up completely. however, i also don't want to be a party-pooper. so, i'm gonna wear black trousers, a nice semi-gothic top, and black & pointy high heels. now for the makeup: what would all of you recommend? i was thinking of smokey eyes: behold e/s, electric e/s, nehru e/s & a lot of black eye liner. how about doodle from one eye or eye brow? please give me some ideas! thanks so much!

i dono how much help i will be, but i was playing around with a dramatic smokey eye the other day and came up with this combo:

-antiqued on inner corner (not too heavy, but applied darker)
-twinks in the middle of lid
-beauty marked in crease and outer v
i created a sort of cat eye shape with BM and used lots of black liner on the top (winged out for cat eye) and bottom (BM lined over that)

it looked awesome...hope that helps somewhat!

I wish I could be more help - but I can suggest red lips? Probably matte red would look really goth. But still classy. A little more special than that really dark lip colour some goths wear.

I'd go for something a little less obvious than a smoked eye - perhaps Shroom all over, a faint smudge of Nehru blended through the outer crease and precise black liquid liner on the eye. That way you can vamp up matte red lips without look like a tragic teen goth or lady of the night.

but wouldn't that (=the eyes) make it an every-day look?

i'm heading to MAC during my lunch-break (culturebloom out today in the UK!). don't have a red lipstick & will ask for a sample that i could use later. which MAC l/s would you recommend?

Not if you vamp up the liner and load on lashings of mascara to play up the arc of your upper lid. Unless that is your everyday look, and then... well, I don't think you'd need much help with doing a goth party!

haha, no. i usually go for very subtle looks.
i just came back from MAC and got MEDIA l/s as a sample to go with my look.
thanks for your recommendation, btw! i might actually try that

strada blush!...applied in line of cheekbone, it will make your face appear very guant and vampirish.

I think this idea sounds best. How about using false lashes and a slightly darker lip liner too?

I am probably too late but check out Jude's tutorials in the tut forum. She does a wearable pink look that you can change up a bit and she does a gothic look.

thanks girls! i looked quite gothic last night; MEDIA l/s definitely helped! i also doodled a little on the side of one of my eyes. everyone loved my makeup & commented on the doodle (asking if i did it myself- haha). anyway, i kinda stood out, as almost no one else made the effort to dress up/apply gothic looking makeup. oh well
