Smokey eyeliner

What's the best way to smudge your eyeliner for that sexy smokey look? I just never seem to be able to do this. So any tips would be greatly appreciated!

a sponge applicator brush works great! I actually have some eyeliners from Clinique that have the sponge on the other end, which is what gave me the idea. Or you could use a Q-tip. HTH!

would the 219 brush work? it seems to work for me.

i think the sponge smudger works the best the q tip seems to take away alot of the color and make it look faded.

Great ideas, one more ?. What exactly is the technique for smudging your eyeliner?

I personally use a sponge applicator, and I just put a little bit of e/s on the tip to help blend it all together, and I sort of 'smudge'. I know that's not the best written description, but that's what I do.

The pencil brush with a little eyeshadow over the top of liner

After putting on eyeliner, I go over it with an eyeshadow brush that has dark eyeshadow on it. It softens the line but at the same time, adds the dark smokey look.
