Smokey eyes and red lips

I've been at home all day since I'm having a cold (getting better now), so I was bored and thought I'd try something I don't usually wear: red lips. I'm soo wanting the russian red lipstick from MAC, but I don't know if red lipstick suits me or not. My first reaction was like "god, I look like a transvestite!"

but it's growing on me now, I might like it. What do you think, should I stay away from red lipstick or should I buy some russian red?
