So here is my skincare routine, CC please?

It's Summertime in WV, which means my face is an oil slick. I'm kinda breaking out.

I usually have good skin through out the year until Summer except hormonal pimples.

AM:
Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser
Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF 30

PM:
Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser
Clean and Clear Persa-gel 10 on my pimples only
Cerave Moisturizing Lotion with 4-5 drops of Jojoba Oil.

Also twice a week I've been using Biore's Pore Unclogging Scrub to exfoliate but my face is red after that? I guess I'm sensitive to it? It kinda stings when I use a towel to dry my face after that also. So I'm guessing it's too harsh? Any drugstore suggestions for something better? I've seen good reviews for St. Ives products but I'm not sure at the moment.

I still have a few pimples on my face, 4 at the moment.

Please help! Thanks in advance!

Maybe try a toner for sensitive skin or an astringent before bed to help a bit more. And switch to an non-medicated exfoliator with beads. Sometimes if you use too much salicylic acid, it dries out your face to the point of it over-producing oil to compensate. You can even try witch hazel or tea tree oil.

Are you removing your sun screen thoroughly enough? Most sun screens need a double cleanse before they come off. That is, use cleansing oil (or whatever oil) first, then clean your face again to get the oil and make-up/sun screen residue off. SPF lotions usually contain silicones which often need to be removed with an oil based cleanser - not to even mention the other ingredients sun screens contain.

If your skin feels irritated, stop exfoliating too often and too harshly. Like Junkie pointed out, use something gentler. Rice flour is great for exfoliating your face - it's not too harsh, cheap and makes your skin super soft. However, AHA masks work great too especially if you don't want to use a grainy scrub.

Or even a wash cloth. Using a wash cloth on your face at night is pretty gentle exfoliation. Another question, how hard are you going at it? I mean are you really putting a lot of pressure on when you're rubbing it into your face?

I have a fantastic, awesome toner from Clarins (green liquid) but I doubt the value of toning in a cleansing routine, so don't blow a ton of cash on one. And if you do get one, make sure it doesn't have alcohol in it or it will sting. And just suck generally.

I really suggest using a moisturizer with an SPF in it already, that way you're not putting more gunk on your face.

St Ives makes the best cheap exfoliator in my opinion-the apricot one for sensitive skin doesn't have as rough of chunks of apricot pit in it. Currently I'm using Soap and Glory's "Scrub your nose in it" and I am very happy, it also doubles as a clay mask if you leave a layer on it. I exfoliate every day-(the horror! But my skin is good with it)

I LOVE Oil of Olay total effects 7-1 creme cleanser + blemish fighter in the morning, it's AWESOME. Gentle, and fights pimples. (You are probably too young for anti aging)

I tend to have oily skin with a pimple now and then that I use spectro gel on and that takes care of it.

Any hoo, I hope this helps you.

Agree with this 100%. Double cleansing when using sunblock is key, especially if they are silicone-based/long wearing formulas.

First off, I'd be very careful with the type of sun block you use. I've got very oily skin as well and I noticed that I would get more pimples when I was using my Neutragena Advanced Spectrum SPF 55. I switched to their Sunblock Lotion SPF 45 and stopped breaking out. It goes on a lot lighter and less greasy, so maybe you can try that.

Also, be careful with using any kind of oil as a moisturizer. From the sound of it, your skin doesn't really need the extra moisture anyway, and oils tend to clog pores. That's why you're not supposed to use body butter anywhere where you get the occasional pimple (face, back, shoulders, etc), because the oil in it will clog your pores and break you out. If you really feel that you need the oil, try using an antibacterial one that will actually help your acne, such as tea tree oil. I don't like putting oil on my face as it will, for sure, break me out. Instead, if I need the extra moisture, I use a heavier moisturizer for PM (like Philosophy Hope In A Jar--awesome name, right?--or Biore's Hard Day's Night Overnight Moisturizer) and a lighter one (like Biore'd Dual Fusion) for AM. That way, I never feel greasy.

As for the exfoliate, it's probably just too harsh for your skin, even if you do have oily skin. Be careful not to strip your skin with acids or peroxides as you can end up with oilier skin. I'd try the one in Neutrogena's 8-HR line. It doesn't have that many beads in it, but it foams up really well so your skin feels really clean/smooth after using it. It reminds me a bit of the Shiseido cleansers, which are HG to me.

Finally, try not to over do on the foundation in the morn. Idk your routine, but many of my friends that suffer from acne really cake it on and that does more harm than good. I hope this helps!
