Someone on MUA sent this to me with a swap request for my california dreamin' lipstick:

I did talk to a MAC rep today who indicated that 90,000 of these were given away and that they do feel they will release the color eventually nationwide (it was a marketing ploy)

I don't know if it's true or not, but if it is I feel sorry for those who spent $100 on ebay for one.

MUA.... I've had some awful experiences there and some people will tell you anything. Either she is telling the truth OR trying to decrease the "value" of your lippie for the prospective swap.... It would be nice if it was the former though, I got one from a very lovely lady for a reasonable price, but I do feel bad for the people who paid the $130US I saw them selling for

Damn! Glad I got mine for a heck of a lot cheaper. Oddly enough, they are going for around $50 buy it now on ebay. Curious.

It was probably just because of the fact that it was such an exclusive item. I really wanted it because I loved the name haha

I heard that there were 90,000 when the talk of them first came out, thats why I knew never to spend a lot on one...to me 90,000 is hardly a rare item

Yeah, 90,000 is hardly a rare item to me as well... lol.
But it's 90,000 released in one state only that made it "rare" I suppose.. unless you know people in cali. ahhahah.

I think that lipstick is coming back in the Ungaro collection. I read the description, pink lustre with white pearl, or whatever it was. That describes the lipstick. I asked an MA to find out at update and they wouldn't confirm or deny it. I could be wrong though, but that description really stood out.

I do not feel bad for those who spent $100 on ebay for one. That was their choice, they could have looked for something similar or waited to see if MAC re-released it. I'm sorry, I just think its crazy to spend that much over retail on something and if someone chooses to do so, thats their own fault.

I did get one finally and I agree that it is hardly unique. I don't think it would be released internationally because it's just a normal mid-tone pink Lustre. What's so special about it that it had to be tested? I don't get it.
