hey everyone, i'm doing a project for my english class and i need to post a series of "interview questions" for anyone to answer.. i just need as many answers as possible. these questions are open to anyone and everyone; all i need is feedback, whatever you can give me

• how did this group/forum originate?
• do you use any special lingo? (abbreviations, terms, etc.)
• why did you get involved in this community?

• how did this group/forum originate? i'm not actually sure! i'm guessing at the time it was founded there were no other beauty sites out there that were dedicated to mac. then over the years it expanded alot
  
• do you use any special lingo? (abbreviations, terms, etc.) of course! mianly abbreviations of mac products though like msf, mes, gps and the like
  
• why did you get involved in this community? because i wanted to share my passion for beauty products with others and make friends with the same interest as me
• what are the goals and purposes of this group/forum? to me goals are for people to have fun, enjoy chatting with each other and learning from each other
• who are the leaders and the experts? well Janice is the founder of specktra so she's our leader if you will! but everybody here is an equal to me.
• what advice would you give to newcomers who want to join this community? dont be scared and to not lurk - just jump in with posting!

• are there any skills that one should know/possess before joining? no skills required other than mannors
  
• how does your involvement in this community affect other areas of your life? i will often talk about people from specktra who i class as my friends with my husband. and we communicate on twitter and facebook too.
• how do you, as an individual, participate in this group/forum? well i love mac so usually i am found in the mac section of the forum. but i also spend alot of time in the tutorials section and chatter
  
  plus i usually get questions from members that i am always happy to answer.
• how do you welcome newcomers? i always try and respond to all threads in the welcome section of the forum. plus i make sure any questions new members have don't go un-answered to the best of my ability.
• have there ever been any major conflicts? generally no. i can honestly say that specktra is one of the most welcoming and friendly communities i have ever been on
