Someone talk me out of this...

So, for some reason (perhaps due to some advice/CC I received in one of my FOTD posts), I was thinking about NOT wearing foundation tomorrow.

I was going to do this ritual:

Moisturizer
Milk of Magnesia
LG Spackle
Strobe Cream
MSFN powder in Light

No foundation.

Anyone tried this? How well does the MSFN cover pores?? Perhaps I shouldn't be wanting to experiment on a day I work (AND I'm supervising, not dealing).

Yeah. Someone talk me out of this. I'm gonna look stupid, and I won't have time to fix it.

ETA: The reason I'm thinking of doing this, is because foundation seems to 'settle' into some wrinkles on my face (marionette lines), and I hate it. I end up looking like I have 'puppet mouth'. Grr!

haha dude. Calm down. I'm sure you'll look as beautiful as you always do. I think a lot of us dupe ourselves into thinking we NEED to wear foundation, but it's seriously not the case. All I wear is Oil of Olay's daily moisturizer with sunscreen, and then powder my face with Mac's new prep + prime transluscent powder to get rid of any shine, and then put my blush, lipstick, and eye stuff on as usual, and my skin GLOWS. I think no foundation tends to give people a much younger, glowing look.

Unless your pores are the size of the moon, don't worry so much! I bet you'll look fab.

Also, I have no idea what "MSFN" is, so I can't speculate if it will work or not.

I think you should do what you feel comfortable with

You'll never know unless you try it.

I have never tried the MoM in any of it's uses, and can't find a primer I like that works for me, but usually when I don't feel like being completely nekkid faced, I do the moisturizer mixed with a pump of strobe liquid (the cream is too much for me, combo skin), and will buff a little MSFN on after that. It's nice to me, but I do have to either blot or touch up after 2-3 hours. Shiny.

Maybe you could do a trial run of your plan and see how everything looks and feels?

MSFN powder is kinda heavy so sounds like you should be good on coverage. Just bring it with you so you can touch up if you feel uncomfortable. Also sometimes I do this and spray fix plus on my brush and then you get a heavier application.... Let us know how it turns out!

So I did it today for work. Well, technically last night. I work 8p-4a, so my days are backwards. It's still Tuesday to me because I haven't been to sleep yet, lol.

Anyhow, I went to work with no foundation. And yanno what? My face felt pretty friggin' good! No overly sticky feeling (Florida is huuuuuumid!), which is good, because it rained all day so it was soggy and blech all night long.

No one really said anything, except one lady asked me what I did different. I said I wasn't wearing foundation and she said my skin looked "really good" (her words, not mine).

I still got some settling into wrinkles, but it wasn't as pronounced as it is with foundation. And maybe I noticed because I was looking for it, I don't know. I get the wrinkle settling on the left side of my face, because I chew the inside of my left cheek. It's a nervous habit I picked up, and I do it without realizing I do it.

So, at least now I know I can skip the foundation and not look like a wreck, lol. I'm definitely going to do this more often, let my skin "breathe" a bit more than it normally does. =)

It's still Tuesday to me too! (I do the "I haven't been to sleep yet, so it's still the same day to me!" thing. Suck on that, midnight.)

I'm glad things worked out for you. I'm sure you looked lovely!

^x2 Haha that's good. At least the MSFN provides pretty good coverage for a pressed powder (I use it daily on its own) so it's not like you were using Blot powder or something, gasp!

And anyway, we all spend so much time obsessing over ourselves that sometimes our flaws seem way more pronounced than they actually are...so I bet your skin is just fine without foundation

Yanno, I have some blot powder, and I hate to say it, but I just about HATE it!! I'm blaming the kaolin, because EDM had a powder with kaolin in it, and I hated that, too!

It gets sticky on me. Almost gooey feeling. *shiver*

I'll carry my blot powder with me, but I only use it if I really HAVE to...

I love wearing MSF natural with a bit of concealer and strobe liquid underneath. It's soft, evens out my skin tone, and looks natural. It's also really easy. I use my liquid foundation when I have a bit more time or when i'm going out at night

I'm glad it worked out for you! what foundation do you usually wear?

I started with Studio Fix Fluid in NW20, then went NW15, but really, I think to match, I'd need like NW-10, lol. So far, 20 and 15 are still too dark for me.

Yes, I'd love to see a comparison FOTD! I never wear foundation, so I'm interested in seeing the results of your ritual.

Well, today and tomorrow are my days off, but Saturday I'll try and make sure I have enough time to take a picture before I leave. I'm going to omit the Strobe Cream though, because it still makes my face feel kind of "thick". Maybe I should get some Strobe Liquid?

i've never used strobe cream, but I really like strobe liquid. It's a thin, runny lotion that absorbs rather quickly. It doesn't really moisturize, but it does it give off the same pinky-pearlescent effect that I imagine strobe cream does.

Sometimes i'll apply it all over (mixed with moisturizer) but most of the time I just apply it to the top of my cheekbones, center of forehead, chin, and then with a small brush (242) add some to the browbone and inner corner of the eyes. a little on the cupid's bow as well. works great and really brightens the skin
