Something wrong with my carbon e/s?

I bought some carbon e/s a few days ago for an event coming up next weekend to do a smokey eye. I've used this e/s before and it was smooth and well-pigmented. However, I can't seem to get any color to come off of mine! It is not smooth at all, and I have used every single brush I own and even my finger and no color will even show up. The product goes onto the brush and my finger but when i try to put it to my eyes just a faint gray mark shows up. Did I get a bad batch?

what are u using as a base? I use blackground p/p and Carborn works great for me.

I'm using UDPP and I am just almost sure the consistency just isn't right! All my other MAC eye shadows come off very smooth and pigmented and this is anything but that. Can I exchange it for another one?

you have have gotten a defective one.
I had an eyeshadow like that once... it was jeweltone ( a BEAUTIFUL purple) The shadow itself was hard as a freakin rock. The colour barely came off on my brush, i couldnt get it to show up on my eye at all. It seemed to get harder with time. I got it to work a little with a sponge tip aplicator, but after a while it got so hard even that didnt work. I crushed it up and tried to use it loose, but still, the colour just won't show up.

I would try to exchange it.

I was almost sure I had a bad one but I didn't know if this sorta thing happened often. I will try to exchange it first chance I get tomorrow!

i've only had it happen with that one shadow. It was such a bitch because it was LE. I kept asking MA's and they had no idea what to tell me. It must be rare.

did you get the e/s wet? i know some of my matte eyeshadows were ruined because i got them wet and the consistency never came back to what it was. you could try to return it or exchange it for another one. i don't personally have carbon e/s but i heard that it is pigmented and never heard of it acting like the way you described it.

That happened to my Passionate e/s once. When this happens and the eyeshadow crusts over you can simply wipe eyeshadow with a tissue and it will come right off.

^I know. I did that with my Antiqued e/s. Now I have to go around the crusted area to get the color.
