Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter?

Has anyone read any of those ol' "Color Me Beautiful" books?

Using them, I figured out I was an Autumn. And I usually buy my clothes within that palette. But when it comes to my makeup, esp for stage, I don't always go with the suggested makeup colors for my palette.
I mean, I LOVE bright red eyeshadow & purple and such...and those aren't supposedly good for me. lol!

What do you all think of the whole season palette thing...?

I bought the Color Me Beautiful book when it first came out in 1980 and had "my colors done" I'm a summer and a firm believer in the whole concept. Summers are the only season that look good with gray hair and as my hair is becoming gray I am constantly getting compliments on how people love my hair. I pretty much follow the makeup for my colorring however summers look better in silver jewelry and I wear gold also. Someone I know is a color consultant and she did both my husband and son and they are both autumns. My son was only 7 when he had it done and he loved having it done.

wow I'm impressed that it's still around! I went to a CMB counter awhile ago, and I remember them laying all these swatches of fabric on me...it was sort of weird.

That's funny. My mom is a MA for another line and I was visiting her at work one day when her friend at the Lancome counter came up and told me "You're a true Spring!" I hadn't heard anyone talk about "colors" that way in years. I might have to pick up a book out of curiosity. I just wear what I like most of the time. Although I do tend to gravitate toward certain colors, ahem BLUE, I think I must be pretty neutral because I don't think there are colors that really look BAD on me.

Ah, so that's what they meant in one episode of 'Felicity' (how embarrassing I'm admitting having seen it) one guy was going on and on about how him and Felicity were 'autumns' - I thought he meant personality, rather than what colours suited you.

Wow, it'd be really hard to pin me down to a season in terms of colour.
