i'm planning on starting a 15 pan palette with some pretty basic colours since i haven't mastered bright colors yet. so it's pretty simple. i plan on having 3 shadows per colour group (you can see below)
i got some colours i plan of getting already from looking at swatches and the mac site but please tell me your input if the colours match or not since i don't know what it looks like in real life and give your suggestions

I also just started a 15 palette, but I depotted other brands' shadows and am including them as well. I found these swatches to be super helpful from Karla Sugar's blog: MAC Eyeshadow Recap - The Next Best Thing To Going Shopping Yourself

From my own recent "research" (

) I'd throw in and/or suggest Typographic in the Grey/Black category, Sketch in the Pink/Red/Purple category, and Orb in the Cream/Highlight category. I used Orb and Sketch, both recently bought, today and they look outstanding! I've very much in love with both of them, Orb especially.

HTH!

For your purples I would take out Beauty Marked. It is a very deceiving color. It looks beautiful in pot, but when you swatch it, it looks more black with glitter. I would replace Beauty Marked with Sketch (brownish like purple). Fig 1 is also a very nice matte deeper purple that you should check out.

Trax doesn't receive a lot of love because often it can make you look like your eye is bruised if you don't use it correctly.

I'm not really a fan of MAC neutrals because I feel they are easily duped and NYX is a great cheap alternative. If you venture into unique shades I would recommend MAC Club.

Good luck to you!

I think you should put a Humid in the greens, bronze in either browns or golds, carbon in blacks, and as others said take out Beauty Marked.

If you wany reliable pretty basic colours that you can use to create different looks with...
I think goldmine and humid instead of soba and greensmoke
In purples maybe parfait amour instead of trax and maybe a silver like electra (for bright silver) or knight divine (for a darker silver)
Also, instead of blacktied you need a matte like carbon... this creates depth, can be used as an eyeliner/to intensify eyeliner etc.. and I love club.. it is an interesting colour!! Good luck with your palette

Knight Devine is my go-to gray. Maybe in your creams you can add Dazzlelight for when you don't want the extra shimmer that Shoom has.

I think you should add Vanilla to the "creams/highlights" category. I have similar coloring to you, and it's one of my HG staples. I use it as a lid color, to blend the crease, to highlight, etc. It's nice to have such a workhorse shade! I also love Shroom, but unless you like really frosty shades, you may want to reconsider Phloof! It used to be one of my top faves, but after awhile, it was just way too much. I'd recommend Dazzlelight in it's place.

Greensmoke is a gorgeous green, but beware that it doesn't look exactly the same on the eye. I think it's the texture (Lustre), but you really have to pack it on, and I don't think it's very versatile. I would get Humid over Greensmoke, but that's just me.

I would get Soft Brown in place of Patina. I have both, but I get a lot more use out of Soft Brown. I use it everyday to blend out my crease, but I also love it alone as a crease shade. It just adds depth and something extra to my look. I had no idea something could do that until I got Soft Brown!

I'd get Sketch or Fig.1 instead of Beauty Marked. Another great shade in the pan, but doesn't really translate to the lid without a lot of effort. It's much more black than purple anyway.

My choices for each category...

CREAMS/HIGHLIGHTS
- Shroom (a nice subtle highlight)
- Phloof! (my best friend has dark hair and NC20, this is her fave!)
- Blanc Type (a creamy matte2 cream color)

GOLDS/DARK GREENS
- Wood Winked (this can look a little goldy, so I moved it to this category)
- Sumptuous Olive (a goldy green)
- Humid

BROWNS
- Sable (a soft plummy brown)
- Soft Brown (perfect blending color)
- Satin Taupe

PURPLES
- Stars N' Rockets (a brighter/fun color - but wearable)
- Nocturnelle
- Sketch

BLACKSGREYS
- Print
- Black Tied
- Vex! (This is a duocrome... so versatile)

Sorry I don't have any e/s suggestions really, but...

Don't forget!!! You can pull out the fifteen pan divider for more room and get an additional 9+ in there too! SO you can think of even MORE colors to start with!
