Starting my MAC collection!

Hey ladies! I'm new here .. and since everyone here raves about MAC, I've decided to try some "basics" from them. I'm really wanting to check out their eyeshadows and pigments and was wanting to know what are the "must-haves" of their collection?

Being blonde, blue-eyed AND pale, I usually like wearing shimmery nudes and browns .. but looking for other colors as well! All opinions are welcome!

As for eyeshadow, I recommend Woodwinked. It's a brownish bronze colour, plus the finish is Veluxe Pearl, which is the entire reason I began loving MAC. It has this shimmery, almost metallic finish, so it sounds like what you're looking for. Also Gleam (which is also a VP), which is a subtle goldish peach, Expensive Pink (almost like Gleam, but a little more pink), Tempting (a glittery brown), and Sable (my every day stable, a somewhat frosty pinkish brown).

For eyeliner, Rich Ground Fluidline would probably be beautiful. It's on the metallic side as well, but it's sort of a reddish brown colour that looks beautiful with Sable. Blitz & Glitz Fluidline would probably also be suitable, it's black, but the slight gold shimmer makes it less harsh on pale skin tones. Power Surge eye kohl would be nice as well.

And for lipstick/gloss...I like High Tea lipstick (neutral pinkish brown colour with a slight golden shimmer), and Luminary lipglass (very sheer pale pink gloss with this really beautiful reddish golden shimmer).

Hope this helps, good luck getting addicted to MAC!

Oh, and as for the less natural shades (sorry, I thought you were just looking for the natural colours), and luckily you seem to have the same complexion and hair colour I had going on while I built my MAC collection, I'd recommend:

Trax - midtone plum with gold sparkle (goes beautifully with the Power Surge liner I recommended above)
Star Violet - a burgundy wine colour, a Veluxe Pearl, this is actually the first MAC product I ever bought and I've loved it since, actually light enough for me to wear everyday...though I've never been one for neutrals
Shimmermoss - metallic teal, but it's not overly bright, very beautiful when paired with a gold or pink (I bought it with Pink Venus) eyeshadow
Shale - a sort of greyish plum colour, can also be worn easily everyday
Brassy Fluidline - bright gold liner
And if you're feeling REALLY adventurous:
Blue Peep Fluidline - Bright blue matte liner
Flammable Paint - you seem to have that warm complexion so red would be quite nice, if you're not prepared to go TOO red on the eyelids, put Motif shadow over top with a little Goldime around it to make a sort of sunset look.
Electric Eel - my favourite eyeshadow, though a lot of people find it a bit too crazy...but I think it would be beautiful on you in smaller doses

Thanks! Just ordered, "Oh Baby" which sounds around the same shade. And, I just adore your avator. It's fantastically hot and/or artistic for some reason.

If there is a freestanding store near you would I go there and buy a 15 pan eyeshadow pallette and start filling it up. The eyeshadows are $10 versus $14. Just go, play with the colors and I'm sure you will find a ton that you love!

Congratulations on your MAC endeavor! I may be able to help you as I have recently joined another skincare/cosmetic company and I need to downgrade my extensive MAC collection to make room for my new products. Let me know if you (or anyone) is interested. I have pallette's, quads, shadows, liners, fluidlines, lipsticks, lipglosses, etc. at discounted rates!

Happy shopping!

My favorite pigment combo is Sunnydaze & Lily White, they go great together. As for lipstick, I love Aloof.. it's a nice light pink.
