Straightener in your carry-on?

Hi everyone!
I've never posted before but I've always found these forums so informative and helpful (I learned how to curl my hair w/ a straightener from here) so I thought I'd give this a shot.

I have a question for anyone that has travelled recently. I'm going on a weekend trip and only want to bring a carry-on. Have any of you been able to bring a hair straightener or blow dryer on the plane with you?

You are absolutely fine to take straighteners and a blow dryer in your carry on luggage in the USA and Europe. They've never been a prohibited (or even suspect) item unless they looks like a cattle prod (which is highly unlikely). TSA rules on what you can and cannot carry here.

Remember the new rules on liquids - here.

If in doubt, contact the airline in advance.

Thanks, you guys! I didn't want to risk it with the recent changes in airline security but I'll go ahead and email the airline and make sure I have my bases covered.
