Studio Fix Fluid Question...

My MA told me today that Studio Fix Fluid should be used with a powder on top. Currently i'm using the mineralize skinfinish natural on top. What happens if i use the sff alone? Do I have to use another powder on top and if so which powders work?
It seems using sff over the powder studio fix would be a little heavy, but is it?

I am surprised your MA said that. Studio Fix fluid is pretty matte by nature. I wouldn't think you would need to set it. I don't. I guess you could add powder if you wanted more coverage. The MSF Natural would be a good powder. It wouldn't feel too heavy. Same with the Select Loose powder.

I use loose powder on top of my fix fluid. That way, it doesn't give a bunch of extra converage on top... but adding the powder makes it look more like real skin/more matted out. Try it with half powder on your face and you'll be able to see the difference. It wears differently throughout the day as well if you have a powder on top.

I use Loose Blot on top because the combo of the 2 seems to give the most flawless finish for me. I could wear it alone but I find a little powder polishes it off.

I only wear powder overtop of my SFF for added coverage. I just don't feel finished without it

I use a tiny bit of powder on top of mine to set it. I feel like it'll just slide off my face if I don't. Plus it gets rid of the tiny bit of shine and makes it easier to blend blushes and such.

i use bp over it. my ma told me it doesnt need to be set... so when she did my face with the powder... i thought it looked better. i use yogamode and it adds a little pink glow to my face. i like it!

I use a loose powder with my SFF on myself, but on customers, I'll usually give them blot powder for touch ups during the day (since it's usually customers w/ oilier skin that ask for the SFF).

PS...your MA probably said that cause they're either a)used to always using a powder w/ a liquid foundation or b)trying to get you to buy more.

I agree! My skin tends to get really oily just with the SFF alone.

I definitely use powder (Natural MSF or Studio Fix--shitty skin days) over my SFF, but then again, I use a powder over ANY foundation I wear. Regardless if it is matte or not. I just don't feel like I look complete and finished without it.

However, I do notice that many girls on here can wear SFF alone without powder but I couldn't imagine doing that on me.

I dont use powder either, unless its really hot out, I use a blot powder then...

I think using a powder sets the SFF on the face, and helps it last.

I've used a variety of loose powder / pressed powder over my SFF and they all work perfectly with SFF. There's no need to get a MAC one if you have other HG status powder.

I use powder on top of every foundation, it just looks better and feels smoother, and prevents shine

i also use powder, i dont use studio fix or mac foundations becauase i am allergic to it, but i do use dermablend, and it can tend to get reall oily and slidy, and especially since its very hot where i am, so i like to set it with powder, and pressed powder, but then it tends to get all cakey.

you don't have to set it with a powder. i usually recommend blot powder for customers who buy sff if they are oily, so they can set it and touch up throughout the day without adding any additional coverage. if they are not oily, and they want to set it with powder, i suggest select sheer. other than that, powder is not necessary.
