Studio Fix Foundation and powder?

Hey guys! I just went on a shopping rampage (still am actually) and I just ordered "Studio Fix Foundation" but I was wondering is it really necessary for Powder next? I see most tutorials where girls just put the foundation on and that's it! But if it is necessary what kind of powder should I get?

thanks for the help! I'm pretty new to mac (and also this forum lol) so I wanted to ask the pros first before I do anything else

i dont use the powder bc i have dry skin, but you have oily skin or need to keep your foundation in place then i would recommend the powder

I just started using studio fix foundation as well. I do lightly dust on some loose powder after I put it on. I have used powder over foundation for years. You don't have to but I think it just makes the foundation last a little longer and it helps keep down any shine or oiliness on your face. Currently I just use one from Covergirl, which works fine, but when that is done I will probably get a loose one from MAC just because I have been so happy with all my other MAC products. Hope that helped a little!

Yea i always use powder after liquid foundations i feel it looks more flawless(my opinion). I love to use mineralize skinfinishes in the natural one's but before those came out i would just use any loose powder to set.

Studio Fix Powder is another foundation so i don't think you need to put a foundation over a foundation haha I say dust a little of loose powder over your foundation instead.

no, you don't use powder after studio fix, because it has the powder built in already. however, if you are oily, you should use some form of blot powder to touch up with later.

but if you use studio fix fluid, then you need to set it with a powder of some sort. same goes for any liquid or cream foundation. this helps sets it and keeps it on longer throughout the day.

could we also use msfn to set as well as touch up studio fix fluid throughout the day? will it make my foundation darker?

you sure can. MSFN can be used on its own, to set foundation, and can be used to touch up throughout the day. the only thing with touching up with it is that it won't do anything for oily skin like blot powder does.

if you touch up with MSFN, i'd still use the pressed blot to touch up for oily shine.

If its for night or a special occasion or goint out then I ALWAYS set with MAC Invisible setting powder which is a pro product and I find it amazing to work with. Also sometimes during the day if its a bit hot and I feel a bit ick or too dewey I set with MSFN or Studio Fix powder.
