Substitute for Bare Canvas?

Purchased Bare Canvas last weekend and have experimented with several different methods to apply it as a base underneath shadows; no matter whether I use fingertips, brush, sponge I hate the texture of this! Looks splotchy, dry and yech I hate this stuff! Any recommendations for a powder or cream with a smoother application? I still have my receipt so I'm taking it back and hoping to exchange it for something else; or should I give up on it altogether and purchase a different kind of primer?

TIA!

yes it is neutral, if you like neutral with lil shimmer then Bare Study is great too.
They are very easy to apply IMO.

I love Untitled Paint...it spreads very smoothly on me, but if you didn't like Bare Canvas I suggest you try it out at the store first, maybe you just don't like how Paints work.

Painterly Paint Pot... very neutral base. I apply it with the 242 brush. I traded my Bare Canvas and Untitled paints in for Painterly and Bare Study.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I'll be heading back to Nordie's either today or tomorrow; think I'll try the paintpots although if they're a cream I'll be sure to test it first for blendability
