Subtle contouring with liquid foundation? Advice on shades/ formulation appreciated.

Hi,

I'm interested in subtle contouring. I've tried it with powder (Studiofox C40 which is my natural shade, C6 and a darker Dior powder foundation) with excellent results and would like to try it with a liquid base.

My favourite liquid is MAC Face & Body in C5 (perfect match). Can I highlight with C4 and darken with C6? I've tried contouring with a mix of F&B and Mineralize Satinfinish, but the Mineralize one has too dewy a finish for this process, at least on my face.

My question is (as above) which shades I could use in F&B and also whether very subtle contouring / shading can be achieved with liquid as opposed to cream.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I agree with you, i think contouring with a liquid is easier than with a powder..
you can use a cream foundation for this too. Your application and brush strokes might be a little different when using a cream, I'd experiment with both.

Thank you. Do you find it easy to achieve a very natural look when you contour with liquid foundation? Do you use one shade darker or one darker and one lighter than your usual base?
Thanks in advance.

One of the Ma's in my store suggests using concealors in nc25 to contour! I personally really like using powder to contour. But just go a few shades darker than your natural skin tone. xx

I'm not really good with contouring but I've seen it done numerous times in Japanese Fashion Magazines. They like to use liquids/creams to add colour and then finish off with some darker powder/bronzer to blend the look.

*Things used that I can identify:
-Studio Fix Fluid [often used for contouring]
-Revlon Skinlights
