Summer Foundation

hey there girls!

i'm looking for a new foundation to use in the summer. i currently use select spf 15, but i find that the liquid texture only makes my conbination skin more oily in the summer. i tend t lean towards oily with only a bit of dryness around my nose, chin and hairline. i need medium coverage, and i use studio finish concealer to cover the worst of my blemishes. i've finally found some things that clear up my skin more or less, so i'm just dealing with residual redness and the occasional blemish.

would studio fix be a good option for me?

i'm just wondering about the coverage on that. tinted mosturizer (which is basically what select tint is right?) has never given me good results in the past. i was considering blot pwder, but i'm satified with my clean and clear oil absorbing sheets and shine powder for that...maybe i'll get a sample of that foundation before i buy it.

The coverage of Select Tint SPF 15 is VERY sheer. For Summer, if you just want a light tint/foundation I say go for Select Tint SPF 15. However, I would recommend using the concealer (if you plan to use one) AFTER you've put on the tint. Then finish it off with Blot Powder, Pressed Powder or Bronzer.

Technically speaking, I don't believe Select Tint is a moisturizer -- you still need an additional moisturizer -- but it is the lightest (and feels like a TM to me) foundation available from MAC.

What type of coverage are you looking for?

I usually use my select tint, concealer where I need it and blot powder when I get shinies. When it's hot out, I don't want my face caked up under makeup -- feels icky!

However if you still need more coverage -- I'd go for Studio Fix since it's a foundation that dries nicely to a powder form. And I'd keep my blot powder around for shinies.

I asked a similar question like this at LJ today and was told that the Select Tint is not good on oily skin.

I currently use Studio Fix but find it is a little heavy for summer. They suggested I use the Select Sheer Powder for summer.

A tinted moisturizer (I've heard Laura Mercier is very good) with concealer and blot powder/sheets should work for you.

I love using Studio Fix with a powder brush for lighter, more "summery" coverage, but if you do still break out, it probably isn't your best bet.
