Sun Ray l/g gone bad...

I've had l/s go bad, but this is my first l/g to go really bad. It has a terrible smell and is so thick it barely goes on. So I went to look for a similar color and all I could find was So Baroque l/g. That color also has a bit of a funny smell, but I was able to wear it. I wonder if this has to do with the color, anyone have this issue? Any other similar shades? It's a medium toned coppery bronze.

Well, Sun Ray has been disc. for quite a long while (it came out in 2001 with Eden Rocks) so I'm not surprised it has gotten bad for you. The normal recommended shelf life of a gloss is about 18-24 months, although I personally have ones older than that! Alot of my older MAC ones have done the same thing though, I don't think the color is the issue. I have it as well and I used So Baroque, Sunny Boy, and Factory Made as backup colors.

The age and usage definitely play a huge part in it. I have also noticed that a certain formula with bigger shimmer particles (not glitter) tends to turn faster. This formula is found in So Baroque and Heartthrob, for example.

You gals are the best! Thanks. I did'nt even remember when Sun Ray came out. I have so much makeup from the last 20 years, Mac lipsticks hold out pretty well, but I have to say nobody beats out Dior. I have glosses and lipsticks from 1983 (yikes) that are still good! They even still have that "Dior" scent. I won't throw anything out until it smells bad!
