i'm still pretty pale, which bothers me because right now i'm an NW15, and in the summer, i'm usually closer to an NW30. of course, i haven't spent any time in the sun haha.

but i'm thinking about using a tanning oil. what exactly do they do? my boyfriend's sister uses them, and he said that it turns you brown instead of red when you get the initial sunburn..is this true? and which ones are the best?

Is there any way you'd consider self tanning?

I know being pale isn't fun in the middle of the summer.... but the sun causes aging and wrinkles and oil on pale skin sounds like a recipe for skin damage.

Use an SPF of fifteen and you'll brown instead of burn. *shrug* That's what my brother does and he's STRONG on the Irish side of our family...(I'm stronger on the Cherokee genetics, which works out well, because I get red hair AND brown skin!

i was thinking about self tanning, but the only one i'd actually use is that new Neutrogena stuff because going to a spray on tanning place is way too expensive.

Shimmer, your family must be a dulicate of mine hahaha my sister is really has most of Irish genes and i got more of the Cherokee ones, my natural hair colour is reddish blonde and when i used to go out in the sun, i got way dark

I know I shouldnt do this. but it works so well. I use Hawaiin tropics spf 4 tanning LOTION. not oil. i just hate the idea of slapping oil all over your skin.

I went to sea world today, i used that all over my body and then just regular spf 30 sun lotion on my face and shoulders, places more vulnerable to the sun. I'm not burnt at all, and i got a reaaaaaaaally good tan. But everyones different, in my case i dont sunburn easily (ive never really had a sunburn), so yenno.

Another one I like is I think Banana Boats spf 15 tanning oil. Its in a spray bottle, non-greasy, and it wont clog your pores (so it says). But when I use this I find I have to spend much more time in the sun to get a real noticable difference.

Hope this helped, DONT GET BURNT NOW!

I suggest tan from a bottle

There is no safe way to get tan the natural way and there are tons of cheap self tanners out there that are easy to use! I use the Neutrogena foam tanning stuff and it is super easy and looks great. Skin cancer and sun damage are just not worth it in the long run
