What are the staples/favorite products that you own thanks to fellow specktra board posts or youtube vids (or any other bloggers/members of other boards) reviewing them and telling you about them?

Here's my list...in no particular order

  • idivine Sleek eyeshadows...it's just love lol.

    NYX jumbo pencils and eyeshadows!

MUFE #92, MAC Vibrant Grape...The perfect purple(s). And that's important to me, lol.

Monistat anti Chafing gel as a foundation primer. What a money saver!

TFSI...my eyeshadow stays on ALL day. 10 hrs..12 hrs. It's on until I take it off. I had no idea eye primer did that...thought it was all hype.

The Mac 217 brush. LOVE it!

    NARS Albatross highlighter

    Gel liners So much easier...

The importance of good brushes in general. It's made SUCH a huge difference in application!

The beauty blender/Sonia Kashuk's less expensive version of the Beauty blender. I love how I can smooth out foundation...I get dry patches and this helps me make a more "airbrushed" finish...or as close as it's gonna get on my skin lol.

Tea tree oil for pimples...omg I am used to zits taking weeks to clear out/be gone and this stuff dries them up in 3 days without irritating my skin. For someone with sensitive skin like mine, this is nearly miraculous lol.

Revlon Colorstay foundation for dry to normal skin...in buff. It does cause a pimple or two on me, on occasion (any foundation other than BE basically does that to me)...but it's the best foundation I have found/best coverage and color match. And the price is unbeatable.

Definitely MUFE #92!

Lots of items tho...if I saw it mentioned on here or on an awesome FOTD, I probably would have never tried half of the stuff I own.

I think there's too many for me to list!

I've been reading makeup forums (including Specktra) for 5+ years now - when I started out I wasn't very makeup savvy but I've learned so much thanks to everyone

The things I've discovered that have made the most difference are:
- Eye primer (didn't use one back in the day)
- MAC brushes
- Paint pots

I have learned about so many great products because of Specktra and more importantly how to use them properly!

I would say that some of the greatest things that I have been introduced to because of Specktra are the MAC 217 brush, UDPP, Cleanse off Oil, Brush Cleaner, and the 109 brush. I am sure that there are more but those products are the biggest ones for me. I can't imagine life without those products!!

I've learnt about MUFE from here, what a paint pot is used for, different types of bases, Laura Geller's Spackle and eyeshadow placement.

ETA: Also, the multiple use of shadesticks, depotting and how you need more than one type of brush for your lids if you want to smudge properly.

Great idea for a thread!! This site and the internet in general has been an invaluable resource for all things beauty related. I've gone from knowing *nothing* at all about makeup and its application to having people ask me if I am a makeup artist and where I learned to do makeup. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you for contributing to the site, sharing what you know and helping to empty my bank account
