The world hates my right leg.

So Yesterday was a Beautiful Warm day here, so I called up my boyfriend and said "We should take the boat out today with the wakeboard and my Inner tube" So we go out and I bring my little brother , (hes afraid of everything and I wanted to show him that things in the outside world can be awesomely fun!)

anyhow we were out on the Lake for a while then it got really windy and the water got choppy so we were going to relocate ourselves to another less windy part of the lake. so I load the inner tube up in the boat, coil the rope and throw it on the floor . I turn around and notice the inner tube blew out of the boat and I didn't realize that my foot was smack in the center of that rope coil, well the inner tube flipped over and caught A LOT of water and pulled that rope super hard , grabbed my right ankle (which I broke and had surgery on with metal plates a year ago)
The rope pulled me into the engine my foot hit the oil pressure gauge and broke the gauge off the engine , which made hot oil squirt all over me (I thought it was blood and that My foot had been torn off!!) ,

The rope finally snapped leaving my leg cut up and extremely swollen, I thought it was broken. Again. I had to rush home and insisted on taking a shower before going to the E.R . Turns out I didn't break anything, But I can not walk. I also am having a horrible time sleeping. I have hurt myself before but for some reason this situation has left me a little traumatized, the scene keeps repeating itself in my mind,I had several dreams about it and woke up startled. It makes its way into my thoughts and I do a little jump and cringe . I hope that it goes away . ALSO another thing, Does anyone have any good ideas to help it from scarring? I certainly dont need a huge spiral rope burn going down my leg.. its so hidious. Im so angry with myself for being so careless.

Oh goodness... I'm so sorry. I read your post in parts and had to stop because I have an irrational fear of ankle injuries. Get better soon!

Thanks ladies.
I forgot about that mederma stuff its sort of expensive but If it works, it works! I have to wait for my wounds to heal, the doctor said its gonna be like 3 weeks or so for it to heal up. I have to meet my boyfriends fathers side of the family in just a few weeks too, i just got a cute skirt to wear and now im embarrassed to wear it because my leg is gonna be all .. greenish/yellowish/blue like bruises get after a while

Aaaa! Painful. So sorry that happened to you. A few years ago we were on the lake and my aunt was going to hold the rope for the innertube while we towed out and my uncle forgot and floored it. Fortunately she got just major rope burn and a swollen wrist. But it's very scary.

A miracle worker for scars is Scargo ( http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=2454 ) It's all natural and it really works! I once had the genius idea to 'carve' an ex-boyfriends initials onto my hand and it completely erased it. I used it during and after healing for about 6 months and now you can't even tell. (And it's cheap, about $7 bucks) Hope that helps!

. As for the scarring, as it heals make sure you are very diligent about putting on whatever topical ointment they gave you (neosporin, etc.)
I was in a car accident when I was 20 and the airbag took a healthy layer of skin off of my chin and cheek. I was really good about keeping it moist with the ointment and I healed in two weeks! No one that saw me could belive it, they all thought I was going to have terrible scars. The only time you can even tell anything happened is sometimes when I wet my face it looks a little more red than the rest of me.
So ointment it up and then when it's healed enough try the mederma or the other product that was recommended on here.
Hang in there!

Maybe the scar will fade and become more shallow with time. Silicone pads would probably help the whole process along.
