Those who have applied to MAC...

I had a few questions:

For those who have applied to MAC and were hired, how long did it take them to call you back from the time of your demo? How many interviews did you have and did they call you back for each one, or were you informed at the previous interview?

For those who applied but were not hired, did they call and inform you that the spot had been filled or did they never call? How many interviews did you do and how did they go?

I just want to know if I'm going to be waiting by the phone for a week, a month, or a year

I was curious to know others experience with this.

Here's my dilema, I dropped off my portfolio/resume in June she told me she'd call me the next week and I never got a call back (they were in the process of a move and after talking to a few MA's I found out they hadn't even looked at the resumes by then- a few weeks later) It took me going in a few times to finally talk to the manager to see if they had looked at my portfolio, when I finally caught her she gave me an interview. I did it last Wednesday and she said if they wanted me for the next interview they'd call this week, well what if she doesn't call again, should I assume that they went with someone else, or should I go in and follow up? (here's the link to my interview, all the details and pics of my model http://www.specktra.net/showthread.php?t=54124 ) So that's why I was curious about everyone else's experience

Hey girlie! Just to respond to your post:
- I dropped off my resume in person and was told I would be called for an interview. I think I got called after a week and a half.
- I had the first interview, and was told I would have a second interview. I received a phone call to set up the date and time.
- I had the second interview, and at the end, scheduled a date and time for my demo and final interview (on the same day).
- At the end of the final interview, I was told I would hear back in about a week.

Hope that helps!

Well, with me.

I dropped off my application and then got a call a week later to meet with the recruiter (something new in my area) and met with her later that week. Then at the interview she set up my demo which was in a week and a half. That went great. Got interview calls for counters a week after that. So all in all it took a month.

But with me, I interview in the wrong region or something, so I had to do another demo and all that crap. Hopefully by the end of this week, I will have an interview with a manager to really get the ball rolling.

Ahh, interesting. So you were interviewing for an entire region, whereas I was just interviewing for one particular store?

Here in the DC/VA/MD, apparently there are different regions. I applied for the VA region but I was sent to interview/demo in the Maryland one. I applied at a MAC store. I don't know how it's done in other places. But I assume that, if you don't get the counter you applied to for whatever reason, they can send your application to another counter and they will call you. That's how it's happening for me.

I originally applied to MAC in February, but the manager said they weren't hiring until June. So May came and I moved residences, so I went to the counter to re-submit my application since I'd changed addresses and phone #s. A few days later the manager set me up for a group interview, which I went to, and thought went well. I think it was two days later she phoned to tell me they'd chosen other candidates. So yes, they should still call even if you don't get the position.

I brought my resume to the manager in person and was interviewed on the spot. She then scheduled me for a regional (Orange County I) group demo that would take place 2 weeks later. The second interview (a little over an hour for the oral interview and then about 30-45 min for the demo portion) was on a Tuesday and after we were done, they told us that they'd call us back by the end of the week. I received my job offer early on Thursday morning and then went in on Friday morning to do paperwork. So my process was pretty quick and painless.

Bleh, should I just call? It's Tuesday, and I had my final interview last Tuesday. If I didn't get a position this time around, I want to know if I will be considered for the next one that opens up...BLAH!

ETA: So, I couldn't take it a second longer...I just called and spoke to the assistant counter manager who said that the positions haven't yet been filled. She said she wouldn't have any information until the counter manager comes back on Thursday. I guess they did a couple more interviews...strange, I thought I was the last one. Well, at least it isn't completely over yet!

I got hired on the spot. I dunno if I was an exception or not, but it was a freelance position (my region only hires permanent from the freelance team).

A friend of mine interviewed (in another region), got called back for a demo, but never heard back after that. She wasn't all that motivated to work at that particular location so she didn't follow up, but I would definitely say to give it a little bit & take it upon yourself to call the manager so you're not sitting around killing yourself with anticipation.

Good luck to both of you!

A very professional and courteous manager will call you back to let you know either way. I hate it when people don't call you back to tell you that you didn't get a certain position and just leave you hanging.

But, the MAC hiring process can be a very long one (mine was), so hang in there and good luck!
