Tips for those who hate Matte shadows

I am also a fan of matte shadows, especially bright ones like Jewel blue. Sometimes I just want a pure colour without shimmer or duochrome...I cannot wait for the new line of Matte eyeshadows from MAC!

Thank you for this! I don't care for mattes at all, but am going to give some of your suggestions a try.

I notice most of the good points about mattes were that they made good bases for shimmery stuff.

I don't hate mattes. But, I don't exactly adore them, either. I really have to be in the mood to wear mattes.

I've just recently started buying more mattes & actually USING them. I really love them now, before I used to think they were boring. But really, they are SO versatile &can be blended into ANYTHING.

mattes are probably my favorite texture, i find myself a little more attracted to the matte shadows when i'm shopping for colors.

This doesn't apply to anyone and I hope I don't offend anybody, but shimmery/glittery/frosty shades make me feel very 15/16 years old when everything on the face is just exploding with sparkle. It's pretty when appropriate, but it's not always the best look IMO.

I agree, with too much shimmer, people end up looking kinda childish (not in the good way). Shimmer needs to be used in moderation, and it's often really hard to find the color that you like in matte. I like MAC because they actually carry different textures, instead of just shimmer, or frost, or glitter, or matte.

Matte shadows are definitely my favourite type of eyeshadow (not just mac's matte but any matte). I do also like other textures, but I generally shy away from using too much shimmer in one look just as righteothen says. I generally prefer mattes for defining the outer v. OH and also how can we forget, matte shadows allow us to fill in our brows!!!

Thanks for the thread sparklingwaves :p

i used to only buy shimmer cuz it looked cooler in the pan but i try to stay away from those nowadays.
