To fringe or not to fringe

I'm debating getting fringe bangs, kinda like: http://www.thecinemasource.com/movie...e_Hathaway.jpg

I thought at first that my fiance would hate it but he thinks it would be sort of hot on me. I'm pretty heavily considering it... what are your thoughts?

If you've had it, what did you like/dislike about it?

TIA!

I think you'd look great with fringe. My only concern is fringe/bangs + summer = hot mess! I cut myself some bangs mid-summer, and that was a huge mistake. By the end of the day, my bangs were all greasy and sweaty looking, even if the rest of my hair was perfect. I'd suggest holding off until fall.

I have full fringe now, they can be very high maintance, you will have to flat iron them or wet them down and round brush them every morning or you can pin them back if you're feeling lazy. But if you are set on getting them I would invest in KMS Makeover Spray to cut down on the grease. It's light weight & wont weigh your hair down. I love the stuff, I have gone through soo many cans of it & rec. it to all my clients to get it. Especially if you don't want to wash your hair.
I love mine & its great for a nice change if you want that instead of chopping your hair off.
I think it would look awesome on you.

I vote yes!! I just cut some fringe on my friend that has brown eyes, and it put so much attention on her eyes and made them stand out like whoa! I can see the same effect for you too.

I do agree with purrtykitty about the summer+fringe thing.. I dealt with the same thing last summer and unless you're inside a lot, I would think about putting them off for a little bit!

I have a love-hate relationship with my bangs. I cut them almost a year ago, I loved them, then I got them trimmed badly a couple of times, had to wear that, then I just got tired of them. I trimmed them again recently, but started growing them out once they got too long. I agree with the previous posters, they can be very annoying in the summer, but also in the winter. Basically if you wear a hat, you have to style them again. I love them sometimes, but I don't think I'll be having them anymore. Also, growing out is a pain. I had bangs a couple of years ago, and once I started growing them out, they only grew to my chin in 1.5 years.

I love my bangs. True, they are a lot of maintenance, but if you are willing to just put a little time into them, they look great. And I don't really wear too many hats, so the hat issue is not really a problem for me.
I think you would look great with them. And the real trick, the heavier they are, the more they weigh themselves down and the easier they are to manage. In my opinion anyway.

I definitely think you can pull off a fringe, it would look great on you!

But personally, I don't like a fringe on myself. I regret doing it - it makes my face look rounder and I have a smaller forehead so it's not too flattering on me. Plus I have had a fringe FOREVER now, and honestly, with my face shape and hair growth pattern, I have to say that I hate it so much. It's good for a while until it gets to that awkward growing out stage, and then you either have to recut it or just wait for it to grow. I got straight across bangs and they are now taking forever to grow out...and let me say I can't wait until they do. If anything, I want longer bangs, one that stop at my cheekbone. Just know that a fringe takes maintenance to look good! Evaluate how much time you want to put into styling it each day (I had to style mine or else it looked horrible) cause it's a little more high-maintenance than a regular cut.

Good luck!

i can't see the picture of what kind of bangs you're thinking of, but as a stylist, i think you would look GREAT with side swept bangs.

This! I have trouble keeping my bangs in line under the most perfect of conditions. Add humidity, heat, sweat... I will NEVER cut bangs again.

do it!! but wait until september/october when the temperature drops...sweaty fringes are not attractive!!

When I had a fringe I would cut it in September and then keep cutting over winter and get the last trim in march/april...after that i'd leave it grow so it could be pinned back in the summer and then come september i'd get it cut up again!
