Hi ladies,

I'm looking for a new mascara....I have very fine, short, sparse eyelashes and am so confused by all the different varieties that Mac has to offer. So...anyone have suggestions?! Thanks!

I actually don't really like MAC mascara...But I guess if I had to choose I would go with the Zoomlash

i'm not way stoked on mac mascaras either, except for dazzlelash. you should still be able to find it from its release with double dazzle.

Have to say I'm not a big fan of MAC mascara either. I didn't mind Fibre Rich, but I found it dried out quickly in the tube. Zoom lash for me was a goopy disaster. I've honestly had more luck with drugstore brands.

i don't like mac mascaras either, they always clump my lashes something awful. if you are looking for a high end, i highly recommend diorshow. if you're looking for drugstore, i like maybelline XXL (the one with primer on one end and mascara on the other) and i've heard good things about Lash Stiletto but i haven't gotten to try it yet.

For a MAC mascara, I would recommend Zoomlash, but it didn't really impress me. Try to go for a mascara that has short bristles so that the application is easier for you.

For fine sparse lashes, your best bet is Fibre Rich. It will thicken and give bulk to the lashes. Plushlash would be my second suggestion. It won't thicken quite as much as the Fibre Rich, but it will give you a bit more lenghth. You could even use them together as you see fit. I mix mascaras occasionally.

I have to agree with most of the posts before me so far.. MAC mascaras aren't that great in my opinion, at least in my experience in comparison with others.

I do think that Plushlash is decent though. I hate zoomlash, I would stay away.

my mac mua tried different kinds of mascara on me before and i think dazzlelash made the biggest difference. i too have short lashes, but i would recommend getting an eyelash primer too because the primer helps the mascara to build on length a lot easier, it seriously makes a BIG difference hth.

I don't recommend MAC for mascaras. I do second Diorshow but really, I'd go with any (my favourite being Maybelline full'n'soft; a drugstore branded mascara) with an eyelash primer before it (like Shiseido's The makeup mascara base). Since then, I've worked false lashes and more recently, lash growers into my routine but I still think it still serves me just as well.

I actually really like MAC mascaras because I find they wear really well even through sweat and tears and yet remove easily just by rinsing with water. I haven't tried the Dior mascaras ($$$ for something you replace every 3 months!) but I have tried Lancome's Definicils and was not terribly impressed.

My lashes are long and straight so I don't think I'm the best person to recommend a mascara for you, but I have found that Zoomlash applies really well if I first blot the tip of the brush on tissue to remove the big globs that attach coming out of the tube. Coat the entire length of the lash at once and remove any clumps with a lash brush, though I don't usually need to do this if I blot the brush first. I have been pleased with the way it holds my lash curl all day. I also like Plush lash--the brush is great and the formula has a smooth, flexible texture--but I find it doesn't hold a curl in my lashes as well. Zoomlash is more dramatic and Plush is better for daytime wear.
