traveling with pigments

I put all my pigments in 5 gram containers and in a ziplock. When I arrived, what a mess. I use sifters and it was still a mess. When I opened one, my pigment went all over the floor. HELP. Is there something I can put inside to keep it from coming out?

THANKS

Did you try tapping it down right before you opened it? Like hitting the bottom of the jar against a flat surface or tapping the top to get the product to sit at the bottom of the jar instead of all over.

Or did you mean the jars opened up and exploded? In which case, you could try taping the sides down?

I've used little sifter jars to travel with pigments before and I put a piece of tape over the little holes on the sifter so it doesn's come out into the cap. I also put a little tape along the side after the cap is on to make sure the whole thing doesn't come apart. Hope that helps.

Odd. I've never had a problem with my pigments, but I carry them in the normal size jars.

i too travel with full-size pigment jars, and have never had a problem. i'll stack them all right-side up, one jar on top of another, in a zip lock bag, and try to stand them relatively upright in my carry-on or purse. i've never had a problem..

I've decided to start pressing mine for travel. And packing the palette with plenty of padding.
I also always carry the MAC briefcase as a carry on. This way, I know that my cosmetics aren't being tossed around by baggage handlers. I've never had a problem with any glitters or pigments (even in the original jars).

I take a piece of clear plastic (kinda like the old clear report coversheet material -Old school days flashback LOL) and cut out a quarter sized circle and I push it up into the lid of the sample container,.. this usually helps keep the powder in the jar and not in the threads of the lid. (kinda like making my own little insert like the ones they put in the full sized jars) Though I think the girls that get the sifter jars and tape holes have the right idea,....

I carry them in the MAC screw-top sample jars (the smaller ones with the black tops not the all clear tops). That has worked great so far for when I travel. Better than the pot shadows, thats for sure.

the full size pigment jars are just the right height in those gladware containers - the sandwich sized ones. I was at the beach last week and in one sandwich size container I fit...

-5 fluidlines on their sides
-2 full size pigment jars
-2 sample size pigments
-1 e/s
-1 blushcreme
-2 mini paints
-trend eye pallete holiday 05

it was an exact fit, and I put the lid on with two rubberbands around it in each direction (4 total) and put it between two folded pairs of jeans in my suitcase. we drove, so there wasn't as much tossing around of my suitcase as there would have been if I was flying anywhere, but it was a good fit. i suppose if there was extra space you could stuff the container with cotton.

I also used one of the small round gladware containers to hold 2 mini paints and a pot of BE foundation, with maybe two cotton balls in between so it didn't shake around. popped on the lid, rubber banded it, and tossed it into my suitcase. worked great!
