Trying green

I know you love my purples, but I want to branch out and try other shades too. I only have one set of green eyeshadows at the moment (Covergirl jade, seafoam and sun sparkle) which I think I've worn once. So today I tried a standard look with them again. But I think I've commited a major makeup faux pas - the eyeshadow isn't just green, it matches my eye color almost perfectly! Should I just not wear green, or should I get some jungle greens, teals and such instead? Other differences from last time include wearing Maybelline wetshine in peachy keen, which I thought went with green better. Also I used Estee Lauder illusionist maximum curling mascara, but the only difference from my usual mascara that I see in the photo is that it made my lower lashes stand out more.

Please give me criticism. I really want to improve!

I have to say that I really don't have much criticism! You did a really good job lining the eyes, especially the waterline! That mascara is fab as well!

Good job! Can't wait to see more!

I think your eyes look really nice. I love the lashes. My "criticism" would be to use some foundation to even out your skin and conceal the darker sections of your face. ie upper lip and chin/jawline.

I would love to see a closed eyed shot. But who cares if it matches your eye. That's bull. There are NOOOOO rules in makeup. <3.

Hmm,.. your MU looks wonderful,.. don't be afraid to use the teals and brighter greens,.. just blend blend blend,..I am sure you can do a great job by looking at your other FOTDs. The only thing that I would change if I were doing it,.. I would apply your blush just a tad bit higher to better accentuate your cheek bone structure,...

Pretty. The green is a great shade.

Tips for the beard: Before you start, exfoliate (doesn't have to be complicated, oatmeal honey and water works well) then shave, then moisturize, then do the foundation - and you may want to invest in a medium "buildable" coverage foundation (Face and Body) and a brush (cheaper in the long run b/c you use less product and get better results.) This stuff you can use heavier in some places and lighter than others. I find concealer around the beard line winds up standing out more.
If you're worried about cuts and nicks doing it this way and ruining your makeup, get a stryptic pencil. Stops the bleeding immediately. Hurts like hell but you've got to suffer to be beautiful, right?

Great job! I love the green!

I would suggest defining the upper lip to create some fullness and some bronzer for contouring.

Thanks so much everyone! Looks like I'll have to invest in-
- a new kind of foundation.
- oatmeal honey.
- a stryptic pencil (my friend always tells me pain is beauty).
- lipliner.
- bronzer.

I'll try to apply my blush higher next time. I was never really taught how to apply blush (or any makeup) in person, so I've just been using what I read as a guide.
I have a powder brush. That won't work well for medium 'buildable' coverage foundation, will it? The TruBlend foundation I use now just squirts out, so I've never used a brush for foundation before.

You girls are SO lucky you don't have to worry about thick facial hair.

As for a closed eye picture-

Oatmeal AND honey. Sorry! Should have proofread that.
Quaker rolled oats will do just fine... 2 tsps in your hand, a scoop of honey, mix together, start with a wet face and keep adding water. Cheap as chips, does the job nicely.

Foundation brushes are flat - they run about 30 bucks for a good one and save you $$ over time b/c you're not getting your foundation hoovered up by a sponge. I don't know about Trublend as a brand or how it performs but the color seems good on you.

As for facial hair... yeah, we might not get the five o'clock shadow but we bleach and we wax like you wouldn't believe.

Haha, I should have known 'oatmeal honey' didn't exist. I was like "well, I suppose they may make such a product..."

TruBlend foundation is made by Covergirl. Glad to hear the color works, I just sort of guessed at the time I bought it.

Okay, first off I want to say that I think you're doing a great job with the makeup. I can see improvements in your application already - and you apply way better than some girls I know.
There are usually two types of men who wear makeup. The first type is a man who wears makeup to still look like a man - just with makeup on. The second type of man who wears makeup is one who does so in an attempt to impersonate a woman. Please correct me if I am wrong, but judging by the fact that you have reduced the size of your brows and grown out your hair I am going to assume you are the second type.

If that is the case, then here's a couple of friendly tips. As you know, you have the facial features of a man, therefore I believe you could benefit greatly from learning how to contour - specifically your nose and jawline. This will give your face a more feminine appearance instantly. Second, the hair makes a huge difference. Try dying it one uniform color and then straightening it with an iron and some straightening balm. Third, you will also benefit from learning how to overline your lips, since yours are naturally thin. Some resources I highly recommend are any books by the late Kevyn Aucoin - IMO the best makeup artist of all time. You may also be able to find some resources online from female impersonators.

And again, you're doing an awesome job!! Keep it up babe!

Thanks for all the compliments! *blush*

Yeah prsfynestmami, I'm trying hard to be more girly (it's so much work!), so your assumption is correct. I don't really think of myself as a female impersonator, though I suppose I partially am. I don't try to fake breasts for instance, and I don't wear dresses or skirts (yet?). I just love to look girly and feminine. Jeffree Star is really femme and hot, but I'd die if I dressed like that! Maybe for a crazy party or something... I want to look like a feminine girl, not a drag queen (not to say I have anything against them, it's just not the identity I want to associate with myself). All of the suggestions I get from you girls are helping a lot!

I'll definitely look into overlining and contouring (no clue how to do the latter...). As for hair, I straighten mine when I go out, but I have to tie it back for work anyway (though I can still wear makeup!), so I tend to leave it wavy for my photos in the morning before I leave. Here I was a few weeks ago after getting my hair done-
