Trying out the soft look...

Seems to be easier to blend out my soft looks...probably because I put the "color" on top of the neutral shadow. It blends it out ALMOST to the point of nothingness, which requires me to pack on more color, but that's ok. Like I say, I'm still learning.

Anyhow, I've been on a soft kick lately...and I've been to lazy to go "all out". Oh, and no chapstick the last few days on my eyes, which also makes for a more subdued application.

***BTW, I'll address some CC from my last posting. I think in that pic my foundation looked heavier, because I've been mixing strobe cream in it. It makes my foundation feel......different. Can't explain it, but don't like the feel of it. I like the effect, not the feel. So, for the pics below, no strobe cream, so tell me if you can tell a difference in the "heavy" look, please.

For perspective, I usually use 1-2 pumps of foundation (whether I use strobe cream or not), because I like to cover my freckles. It also seems like no matter WHAT color I get, my neck is always lighter than my face. I apply with a brush sometimes, but mostly a sponge. I really like those little sponges, lol.

I also plucked my eyebrows, but there are days when I don't get the arch just right, so you end up being able to see a few hairs here and there. But in real life, no one gets up close to my face except for hubby, so that's ok, I guess. I really want them tattooed, but there's no way I can go into work with no makeup and scabby eyebrows, lol.

Also, my eyeliner. I have really wrinkly lids (think hound dog), so when I hold my lid taut, it applies in a nice line, but when I let go, the wrinkles come back and make it look all wonky and crooked/uneven. I don't know how to fix that, short of eyelid surgery (which I'd be all over if I had the money).

I wanted to address it, since you all took the time to suggest things, I wanted to take the time to let you know that it is NOT going unnoticed, I am listening, and I am trying.

I'm really upset, because this first pic, I CAN'T remember what I used! I know I used Shore Leave all over, but I can't remember what else. I'm wanting to say it's the brown from the HK palette, but I can't be positive.

Other than that, it's my usual:

Eyes

UDPP
Shore Leave from brow to eyelashes
Penultimate with Wonderwhite g/l on top

Cheeks

Gold Spill MSF to contour
Naked You MSF as blush
Shimpagne MSF as highlight

Lips

NARS Fantasia
SnowScene l/g

K, this one was for work on Wednesday. I was flooring (supervising) that night, so I got to wear a black t-shirt under that secksee beige suit jacket. I went with a really intense blue (BE's Azure), but putting it over Shore Leave, lightened it ALOOOOT. I liked it.

Eyes

UDPP
Shore Leave from brow to eyelashes
BE's Azure in outer corner and into crease
Chill in inner corner
Penultimate
Wonderwhite g/l on top
NYX Doll Eye mascara
NYX black pencil on waterline

Cheeks

Light Flush MSF as contour
Petticoat MSF as blush
Porcelain Pink MSF as highlight

Lips

Random pink liner
She Loves Candy l/g

Both looks are very pretty. I see what you mean about the foundation, and it looks better sans strobe. However, perhaps you should consider switching to a lighter formulation altogether?

I dunno, maybe. The first time, she swore I was an NW20. I KNEW it was too dark, but didn't want to waste it, so I used it until I went back and said "I think I need a lighter color". This lady said "Oh yes, you're definitely an NW15".

Keep in mind I always go to the counter with NO makeup on at all. Makes it easier to match me, plus, no one can internally critique my makeup skills, lol.

So...what's lighter than NW15? Do they make, like a 5 or 10?

I think your foundation looks fantastic!! If you want to still use your Strobe Cream, you can apply a little on your cheeks after your foundation, and before your blush. It will give just a subtle highlight without the heaviness and give a good base for the blush. I really love the colors you used for the eyes!!!

Wow, this looks fantastic! The foundation looks much better without the Strobe Cream.

I just want to qualify my comment on your previous FOTD: I generally prefer the look of bare skin over foundation, so I'm kind of biased. I think you have gorgeous skin, so if I had any hand in it, I'd apply less foundation on you. It's noticeable on your forehead, the bridge of your nose right between your eyes, around the mouth, and your chin. I think you can still cover your freckles while going lighter (not in color, but application) in those areas.

It's hard to give constructive criticism without sounding negative and flaming, so I hope you don't feel discouraged or upset by anything I've written. It's just that you're a pretty lady, and you can get away with much less!

I like the look. Don't worry girl, I had the same problem w/ strobe cream and my SFF. If you are going to use it, you really don't need much. When I was using it my foundation feel so heavy.

Nah, not upset at all. I know that you don't mean what you said in a mean way. =) Besides, it takes alot to get me going anyhow. Working in a casino will do that to ya, lol.

Sadly though, I HATE the way I look with no foundation, lol. Too....hmm...sallow? Sickly? Too too pale, and you can really see my pores. Me no likey.

hey girl - I think she meant you might want to consider switching to a foundation with less coverage

lighter in formula, not color.

I like these looks, its awesome that you're willing to take CC to heart, I learned a lot that way.

I love the eye look! And I agree, freckles are wonderful, don't try so hard to cover them up (just my opinion of course).

I also have wrinkly lids, what I do is apply gel liner without pulling the lid taught, it seems to get me a smoother line in the end.

Don't be so down on yourself, you are a sexy, gorgeous woman!

I adore your eyes in both these looks, you do great work!

I am super pale and super freckly... Don't cover up your sun kisses! They're beautiful. But if you really want to have some coverage- maybe try a tinted moisturizer instead of full on fdtn? Just an idea.

I think it's great that you have taken the cc and are looking at how to change your application to suit. One thing I have noticed about my own makeup is that the older I get (I am now 38) the less makeup I can wear. Now, don't get me wrong, I still have primer, foundation, corrector, concealer, powder, bronzer/contour, blush, highlighter (and that's not including eyemakeup & lip stuff!) on my skin, however I am having to go with a much sheerer application since it settles in the wrinkles otherwise! I guess what I am trying to say is you can still even out skin tone and create a 'veil' without it being a 'mask'....you are very gorgeous, and I think you could easily wear less base and still look gorgeous...
