For the murders of my friend Marcelles McElvaine and his friend Brandon T. Hammond, which occured on Wednesday, December 6th, 2006. And I'm SO fucking exhilarated. I feel like a big weight has been lifted off my chest. I'm still hurting for the loss of my friend and my heart still weighs heavily with that; but I honestly didn't think they would ever catch the cowards who cut my friends' lives short and took them away from me, their other friends, and their families. So many times it's happened around here, someone gets shot and usually killed and the killer is never found; and after awhile they stop investigating and move on to some upper-middle class cheerleader who gets killed by a drunk driver. Not that that wouldn't be a tragedy, but the San Diego Police Department and News Media have a tendency to pick and choose, and usually, two Black boys killed in front of an apartment complex that is renowned for housing gang members and wannabes, it would just be written off as a cross-town feud and basically, we'll all kill each other anyway so there's no need for them to act on it.
But I'm so glad that the Police stayed on this case and that the Crimestoppers hotline blew up the way that it did when the surveillance video and photos were released from that night. And I'm so thankful for the professionalism of the media in this case, and that they truly portrayed my friends as innocent victims, which they were, and not as thugs and gangbangers, which they were not.
And I also wanna say how appreciative I am and will continue to be to those of you who read my initial post about it and offered your kind words and sympathies.
And here's a few clips about it

SAN DIEGO - Authorities announced Tuesday the arrests of two men suspected in last month's fatal shooting of two 19-year-old men on a Bay Terraces-area sidewalk.
Anthony Torian, 21, and 20-year-old Deshawn Broadnax were each booked Friday on suspicion of two counts of murder, according to the San Diego police Homicide Unit.
Officers responding to gunfire in the 7600 block of Deep Dell Court on Dec. 6, 2006, found Chula Vista resident Brandon Hammond and Marcelles McElvaine of Paradise Hills mortally wounded about 6:15 p.m., police said. The victims, who had been shot by a gunman on foot, died within minutes of each other.
Torian was arrested Friday afternoon in the 4300 block of Logan Avenue and Broadnax surrendered at San Diego Police Department headquarters later that night, Homicide Unit Lt. Kevin Rooney said.
Police did not immediately disclose a motive for the slayings.

SAN DIEGO - San Diego police announced Tuesday morning that a pair of men have been arrested in connection with a double slaying last month in the Bay Terraces neighborhood.
On Tuesday, investigators said that detectives had identified two suspects in the case, Anthony Torian, 21, and Deeshawn Broadnax, 20. Authorities said they took Torian into custody on Friday at 3:40 a.m. in the 4300 block of Logan Avenue. They said that Broadnaz turned himself in at police headquarters later that day.
Brandon Hammond and Marcelles McElvaine were shot to death on Dec. 6 in the 7600 block of Deep Dell Court. According to investigators, one of the wanted men shot the two teens and then got into a nearby getaway car -- an older, two-door, dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Cadillac -- with the other man behind the wheel.
The day after the killings, officials released photos taken of the two men by a surveillance camera at what appeared to be a convenience store counter.
Officials said both men face two counts of murder.
