UD shadow question RE: lighting

hi girls. i have a question. i just recently purchased my first 2 shadows and primer from UD and when i put them on in my bathroom, the color wasnt very intense, i just kept layering and layering and was confused because the color swatch i checked on my arm was VERY vibrant. so i thought nothing of it, loved how it looked in the bathroom, and went on my way out the door. i got in the car to clip my hair and my eyes were PURPLE like crazy! im assuming it was the lighting in my bathroom not showing the colors very well.

Anyway to get around this? a small special light i can buy to use when i do my shadow. i love the 2 colors (cant think of the names right now) but i am in love with them but am nervous using them again so i dont og out looking like a clown.

the reason i posted this in the UD section was because ive never had this issue with other shadows. (mostly drugstore lines, dont own mac shadows)

hmm i have never had that happen to me. i love ud eyeshadows...i kinda feel like they are even more pigmented and much bigger payoff than mac! it probably was your lighting.

Oh yeah i LOVE the UD shadows and i think the color payoff is amazing as well and they are so blendable and smooth, but i guess the yellow lighting in my bathroom screwed it up.

I would invest in a good [large] make-up mirror with various settings (home, office, night, day, etc).

The mirror I bought last year is made by ConAir. It is double-sided on a swivel; 8x magnification on one side & 1x mag on the other.

Always gives off the true color of your make-up a lot better.

when you swatch on your arm or hand, you usually use your fingers to apply that, so swatches tend to come out more vibrant because of the way the pad of your finger picks up the color vs a brush.
try using a different brush to pack on the color when you are at home. what brush did you use just now?

i use the eyeshadow brush from Sephore. i just got it in a set when i picked up more UD deluxe shadows! Which are amazing!!! but again, the colors were more vibrant in regular lighting then my bathroom.

Its definitly my bathroom lighting, but i wasnt sure if anyone else experiences this in their bathroom due to their lighting and what they did to get around it?

I pack on the color great and i have just starting doing my eyeshdaow next to my sliding glass door in my living room instead of in the bathroom which is working fine but wish i could just do it all in my bathroom lol.

I haven't had that problem with my UD eyeshadows, but I'm lucky my bathroom has a window, so I can get some natural light in there. I may go buy one of those lighted mirrors, anyway. I have been wanting one for a long time! I'll have to remember to check my eyeshadow in different lighting when I'm away from home!

One thing I have noticed is that no matter how my skin looks (without makeup) at home, at work, anywhere indoors, when I look at it in the mirror in my car it's AWFUL! On the plus side, I have actually plucked my eyebrows in the car once or twice, because the light in there somehow shows up all kind of little hairs I can't see anywhere else. I have to hope that if I can't see it anywhere but in the car, maybe no one else will either!


ETA: It JUST occurred to me that yellow and purple are opposites on the color wheel, so if your bathroom lighting is yellow, and you were using purple shadow, the lighting probably neutralized the shadow color a bit! Have you had that problem with any other colors?

actually, i havent! and thank you so much for finding that out! lol. because my greens and such are fine, but purple dont work inthat light! grafiti showed up just fine!
