undertone help!

The whole undertone thing really confuses me. All my life I've been told I had olive skin. So, when I first did a MAC chat, they of course asked me my skin tone. They asked me to look at my arm and if my veins were more blue then I had warm undertones and if they were more green then I had cool undertones. I would have thought if they looked more blue then that would mean I'm not an "olive". Is this really the case? And so, if I have "warm" undertones, is that pink, yellow, or what? Please help me figure this out!!!

its a little confusing with mac because yellow is actually a warm color on the color spectrum, and pink can either be warm or cool, depending on if its more red-based or blue-based. but, according to mac's coloring, when you look at your skin, if you see alot of yellow in your skin, you are cool. if you see more pink, you are warm.

the coloring of your veins has nothing to do with your undertones. my arms are more yellow than the rest of my body, but those veins are both green and purple. my legs are more pink, but those veins are green.

the only way to tell is to look at your face (or whatever body part you are trying to match) and see if you notice more pink coloring or more yellow.

The only way i knew i have really yellow undertones is when i wear a pink undertoned foundation, go outside and look that my next is green looking compared to my pink face lol.

If you have olive skin(like me) i would assume you are yellow undertoned and i think with MAC that is the C. Like in studio fix powder, im a NC40.

Get out! Did your neck really look green? LOL!

Sorry...

I read somewhere about holding up a white sheet of paper to your face, and see what color is reflected there. If it's more pink or more yellow or brown then yr: warm, cool, neutral...

Never did it tho. Just looked at a couple foundation I thought matched my face. I picked out NC45 b4 the MUA actually told me and I was right.
