Unwanted Forehead/Nose/Chin Shine.

Okay so after about four to six hours of wearing my foundation + powder my forehead/nose/chin get ew and shiny, I hate it so much! Touch ups with powder end up making me look a little cakey so I was wondering if there are any other tricks for this I don't know about-

Note, I'm not using MAC foundation or powder. I know boo me! I used to wear it, I really did! BUT MAC does not offer a light enough foundation to match my skin color so I end up looking quite orange. That makes me a bit mad because HELLOPLEASE it's MAC. I love MAC and I can't believe they don't offer lighter shades of foundation when even some drug store brands do. GRRR!

Can anyone help me?

I use paper towels to blot shine after about 8 hours and a very very light dusting of loose translucent powder with the biggest fluffiest powder brush I own but I dab it on instead of sweeping it on.

See I was thinking about that too, I currently use a pressed powder, But I have been thinking about switching to loose, and using it for touch up's also. I also heard MAC has this matte gel that prevents shine if you apply before foundation, but some products are kind of ooky so I'm not sure.

What powder brush do you use? I currently only have the 129SE holiday edition because I've always used pressed. And I use that one for blush.

MAC has a oil control lotion which is amazing, what I also do is put on foundation first, and then put powder on my whole face, and then go over it with a sponge in areas where i am most shiney. And dust off my face all over with a clean 187 to give a more even finish. I bet you will have no shine after that :) Hope thats all okay! Pm me if you have any more questions.

Hmm. Have you tried using a primer under your foundation and powder? I used to have a really shiny forehead and nose by mid-afternoon every day, and had the cakey touch-up problem you describe, too. But since starting to use a primer underneath my makeup, my shiny/oily problem is gone and I don't even have to worry about touch-ups. I use Avon's Magix primer because it's on the cheap side, but I've heard good things about a lot of other brands, too.

Some cheap drugstore one that I bought years ago. It works just fine. Sometimes I'll use mt 187 though and that works.

The MAC primer I bought I HATED, it had glitter in it, or something. It was so weird. I felt like hannah montanna. I didn't realize there were so many primer's I was thinking about studiofix but it's also kind of expensive.

I still like my Laura Mercier primer but I use the Smashbox also. Have not tried the MAC one, but might when I run out of the other two. When I get shiny I use a half tissue to absorb any oil, then I spritz with some Evian water spray and then use the Oil Absorbing powders from various lines which all help out with shine. These seem to work well.

I am very oily and I use MAC oil control lotion first then MAC matte gel. After that I use Perfekt primer to fill in large pores. Next, MUFE matte foundation, MUFE loose matte powder, and MUFE HD loose powder. Sounds like a lot of products but I only put on a super thin layer of each so my products last a long time. I don't get shiny ever and my makeup doesn't budge. Even if I sweat or it is raining I have a dry powdery finish. Also, my MA showed me that if on the off chance I get shiny I can put on a very thin layer of MAC matte gel on top of my foundation and it takes the shine right off. That way I don't get cakey trying to soak up the iol with powder. Lastly, in a pinch, bloting with blot papers, one ply of tissue, toilet paper, or paper towels really does the trick for a short term fix. I also use a perscription topical medicine called Vanoxide that has a combined steriod and benzoyl peroxide and I really think it is a miracle cream!!! After 37 years of oil and acne I have nice skin!!! I hope any or all of this helps

i would suggest try the blotting papers, theyre fairly inexpensive too! ive also heard of this trick that you can use, but ive never personally tried it, since i dont really ever get oily, but if you use a thin layer of powder before doing your foundation etc, do your MU and then set it with powder again, its supposed to delay your face getting oily! hope thats helps

try Coastal Scents Diva Defense Primer. you can get a sample jar to see how it works for you. but for me, i fucking love it, cannot live without it. keeps shine at bay, and if EVER i only need to blot once. thats it. i used to have to do it several times. the stuff is amazing. if that doesn't work for you, then I'd suggest MAC Matte, which is the EXACT same as Smashbox Photofinish primer (but way cheaper, esp at a CCO).

I use Oil Mattifier and GOSH Velvet Touch foundation primer. The two combined keep shine away for hours! Belissimo!

I do still get a bit of oil around the nose but I retouch up with a bit of foundation and despite doing that before I used the mattifier and primer it made me look cakey reapplying, it doesn't now! Hoorah!
