this is just a quick ques about ebay i need help with any buyers or sellers are welcome it may sound a bit silly but im completley new with this

edit: i have a personal account on paypal however i recieved an email from paypal after selling something saying

i am v confused about what to do as i dont want to upgrade and pay fees cos for the stuff im selling i would be paying nearly as much as im making
so my question is do i refuse this and ask the buyer to pay me via non credit card payments as stated in the above email? bcos i stated in my auction i cannot accept credit cards due to my account

sorry for the rant but im v new at this and desperatley need some help

if you're not sure about it, it's probably not even a real paypal email. forward the entire email to [email protected] and then delete it from your email account.

hello thanks! its def a real email im just confused about what to do

i recived 2 emails the one shown above and this one below which said i had recieved instant payment from *** to the total of *** then said this

To accept this debit or credit card payment, upgrade to a Premier or Business account. A small fee is charged to accept incoming payments

does this mean shes tried to pay by credit card or what?

yes, it means they tried to pay via cc through Paypal. if you upgrade- you have to pay PP fees on every transaction from then on, but on CC payments, you pay an additional 2.9% I believe, email the person and ask if she'll pay via non-cc funds as you stated in your listing.

thanks alot yep i just emailed her asking nicely if she paid by credit card and i shall refuse it so she can pay by non credit card

right so the problem is i refused her payment and nicely explained to her that i needed to be paid by her account and even gave her a link explaining how incase she didnt know and i got this email back

'ok so you cannot accept my payment until you upgrade your account sorry can only pay via my pay pal and my visa debt sorry hope you can upgrade soon sorry for any inconvenience'

any advice on what to do now as im totally stumped

Visa Debit is exactly that, a debit card... I don't get why you have to upgrade your account just cos it has the word Visa in it!?

Can she send you a cheque??

na ive been warned not to accept them soo u know
i dont get whats so hard she simply MAY have the amount in her paypal account which she transfers to me at a click of a button whats annoying me though is that its my first sale cos i have a intstrument to sell which should go for about £300 and thought it would be a good idea to sell something unimportant and little 1st didnt think it would be so hard! lol

What a pain! Doesn't sound like she's being too helpful! Maybe you'll have too relist? Not ideal I know but she shoulda read the listing properly! Maybe politely suggest she transfer funds to her account so she can pay you that way and say that's all you'll accept... if she wants it she'll work something out if pushed I'm sure.

Read that. If you are using paypal on ebay, you have to accept everything and cannot say otherwise. If you dont want to upgrade, you'll have to say you can only take checks/money orders/cash for your auctions.


She could report you if you refuse her payment and they might do something to your account. I dont know what else to tell you except try to work something out or just upgrade.

god id never read tht policy. should of since i read basically everything nd a mean nearly everything about ebay before selling hah. on the policy note i think its a bit silly sayin u MUST uprgrade or u MUST have the premier account since you have to pay for it. ive read loads of peoples pages where they dont accept credit cards hmm
