Using my art classes as an excuse to play with makeup

I'm in my schools library, trying to decide what to do for a project in my art class. It's almost the end of the semester and I am currently failing ;-;
My teacher said if I could come up with detailed work, that he would let me turn in a collection of face charts for a grade 8D
What are some of your favorite mac face charts? or some of your favorite looks in general? What is visually inspiring to you? I'm planning on putting looks onto paper or canvas and turning a collection in for a grade.
Being an art student is nice, sometimes, if you know how to convince instructors to let you work with stuff that you are interested in.

Ooo do something complex. I don't really know what face chart examples to give you-- maybe some Halloween ones? Just throw your own flavor into them!

ooh. that sounds like fun! I'm an art student too, and in my experience, art professors will let you work in a medium you like if they think the work you produce will be better than if they limited you.

I say do a collection of wild looks! Maybe something surrealist.

I don't mean to be rude but don't you think if you are doing this art class and you are failing you should just do an art project instead of copying other peoples ideas? I mean even if you do turn in 8 face charts it should come from you. Just take inspiration from everywhere, but try and come up with something original. I would do something really artistic. Use the cheeks and corner of the eye. Think of old films that have inspired you. Maybe do a thing of make up through the ages (different periods of make up represented through the face charts.) Be careful though, art teachers are smart. Put a lot of thought into it. Think about what inpspires you with make up and do some rough drafts. The teacher isn't going to expect something amazing, just do your best, but make it "YOUR" best you know...

I agree that your shouldn't really copy MAC facecharts, but more or less be inspired by them and produce your own work.
I go to an art school so I can see how you'd be tempted to copy 'cos after you start taking art as serious courses it seems like a chore -_-. I totally failed my life drawing class this report period LMAO But its just because i got lazy and felt like drawing was such a task.

I think you should use your own inspiration as well..Showing your skills as opposed to others..I'm sure you got it in you..or you wouldn't be studying art.

I wasn't going to copy facecharts or anything like that, what I meant was taking actual looks, like something from a magazine or whatever, and putting them onto paper.
My teacher suggested doing that so I didn't think of it as being "uncreative", but I don't think anybody understood what I meant :/

I agree. Fashion shows are a great place to start. I would suggest checking out Manish Arora's looks as well. You can search for him on Getty Images.

Also, there are makeup artist portfolios. Billy B and Kabuki do some really amazing and creative looks.
