Has anyone used their 187 stippling brush to apply foundation? I rang MAC mail order yesterday and the loveeeeeeeeely MA recommended i use this brush for the full coverage foundation i was interested in.

I just cant get over the idea of using delicate goat haired brush for foundation. Should i buy a seperate brush for this purpose? wont it get ruined? Help!

I do! It's incredible! So far I've only used it with the Studio Stick but I luv it so much I was going to throw out my foundation brush.

It cleans so easily I swapped my other 187 away.

It's pretty delicate, but it gives a really smooth even finish. It's really really good. haha I can't say enough good things about using the 187 for foudnations! It doesn't cause a mess so I go from foudation to skinfinish with the same brush.

How do you actually use it for foundation though, esp the liquid foundations? Do you put the foundation on the back of your hand and start swirling it? Or is it only good for powder foundations?

I've wondered about that too. It just seems odd to me to put on foundation with a brush instead of a sponge. How is it different?

brushes, for me, since i have such DRY flaky skin do not rub my skin into flakey bits while applying like sponges do.

i use my 187 for all sorts of foundations! moistureblend, hyperreal....anything!

for the compacts i would just lightly dab the 187 in the foundation and then kind of swirl it over the area i was doing...and reapply if necessary.

for liquid, i will put it on the back of my hand and again lightly dip the 187 into the foundation and again swirl it to apply...

the liquid/creams should not hurt the brush because its a real goat hair....just remember to clean it up (i try to after every use unless i'm running late, but then i do that night)

For any of your pricey MAC brushes if you use the brush cleaner I've heard you should dampen the brush first with water, brush cleaner, then rinse it. The cleaner can dry out your brushes otherwise. I use both brush cleanser and baby shampoo for a good cleansing.

the MA that did my makeover used the 187 with select spf, first she poured some in a little glass container and then she swirled the brush in there, and applied with circular motion.

At my MAC makeover she reccomended i use it with my Studio Tech too. I can't see how you can go from using it fro foundation and then straight onto MSFs without having foundation all over the bristles!?

I find the concept of using sponges for foundation really silly, brushes all the way people! It gives you a professional even airbrushed finish and doesn't waste all your product by absorbing it.

well i have 2 187's. i tried using one with my moistureblend yesterday and i must say the look was very airbrushed and smooth. there was a bit of drag when getting the foundadtion on to the brush though and it does take longer than just using the 190

That makes a whole lotta sense! It would be more hygienic also also. Thanks ishtarchick!

just stipple the brush into the foundation! that might help...dont drag it across the foundation...at least that's what i do

takes me the same amount of time using 187 as 190

I like keeping my skunk pure-I don't even like using it with my blushcremes although it gives the best finish. I just hate how it gets sticky, I'll stick to 180 for foundation, 187 for MSFs.

I use the #187 with studio tech and fix+ on my customers and they love it! I hate cleaning the brush afterwards, but it applies foundation beautifully.

Ooh i love Studio Tech applied Fix+ also and did it everytime until recently when i started using the Primer because i thought the Fix+ might affect the primers qualities and maybe make it less able to keep my skin matte. Have you got any idea if it best that i stop using Fix+ over the primer?
The primer does make my apply my foundation really well as it makes my skin silky but Fix+ made it glide on and apply sheerly.
