We will be going to London i january, for me it's my first visit except for changing flights in Heathrow many many times. And I am so looking forward to it, I can't beleive it has taken me so long to go London.

We will be bringing our son who's one year old, and I have some questions relating to that.

We definitely need to bring a pushchair. He can't walk and he is way too heavy for being carried around. But how do you get around London in public transportation with a pushchair? I just heard that it's nearly impossible bringing a pushchair in the underground, beacause there are no elevators etc. Can we bring it on the bus or what do we do?

How is London when it comes to going out for dinner with a child? Ofcourse I will have to stay away from the fanciest of restaurants, but how is the restaurants in London when it comes to children. Are there high seats available in the restaurants? Childrens menues etc.? Can you reccomend anywhere to go with children for dinner?

Are there maybe any websites with usefull reccommendations for eating out with children?

And how about all the high end stores I plan to visit such as Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Harrods etc. and other more low key stores. How do they feel about bringing a push chair in the store?

i have friends who live in london so i go a few times a year to visit. and although i don't have a child i can still give you some tips!

the are lifts in the underground! legally there has to be! you just have to look for them because they are not well sign posted! however there are many train workers all over the stations who can give you some help. you will have to go through a special wider ticket checker to get into the main stations. and if you get stuck there is always somebody stood near one.

when on the underground you will have to stand with your pushchair near the doors - this is where there is room for luggage and pushchairs. however you may want to avoid the underground at busy times like 8-9am and 5-6pm because of workers. there will be no room for your pushchair and your child may get stressed and paniced at all the people. they stand very very close to each other and can be too much!

going out to dinner in london is fine with a child too! mnost resturants that i have been in have high chairs for children and most have children menus as well

so don't stress about that too much! you can eat as low class or as high class as you like because there is so much options!

and again the majority of shops are fine with people with pushchairs. however you may find that they watch you because some people steal things and hide stuff in the pushchairs! terrible but don't take offence at this!

i also see alot of people wearing those baby holder things where you can wear your child on yoru chest! i'm not sure of the name for it though... but that may solve some of your problems....

pm me if you need any other help

Thank you so much! That was very helpfull. I have a baby carrier but my "little" boy weighs 26 pounds

So I really can't carry him around unfortunately. Because that would be so much easier. But we did that a lot when he was smaller.

I just heard that the busses in London have very narrow doors and that it's difficult to get a push chair onboard. Do you know about that?

IA with everything LMD84 posted...and there is more than enough space to get a pushchair onboard a London bus

You will have a great time. Do not worry!

You are going to love London, I know I did! I also agree with everything LMD84 said. I would try to get a really portable pram (british word for pushchair) that folds up easily. Doors on the trains shut very fast, so I would suggest folding up the pram and walking onto the train as opposed to pushing it on.

yes the train doors do shut quickly but they beep before they actually close. don't rush on when it's beeping. many people do and have been injured by doing so!
