Very intense matte black shadow

The black shadow I've been using for a while is Urban Decay's Zero and I just noticed yesterday (wow it took me that long?) that it really isn't that black! It's dark greyish kind of. So now I'm looking for a super black matte shadow and I'm thinking of either NYX black or Make Up For Ever Black 4. Anyone had any luck with these and how are they quality, texture, staying power, blendability, etc wise. For some reason I don't really want Carbon. Pictures and or swatches would be nice as well!

NYX Black is really good, and I'm editing my response metalkitty is right it's more of a charcoal gray and less intense black. I think the most intense matte would be carbon. Though NYX does makes good eyeshadows which are very very much as good as MAC. The quality, price, and durability are great. I'll try looking for a pic for you, as my camera's not with me.

I'll have disagree with saniyairshad, I didn't find the matte NYX Black to be a true black, just a charcoalish color imo. But I'm anal retentive about having my mascara, black e/s, and liner as black as it can get. Honestly I can't think of any matte truly black e/s without shimmer off the top of my head. Every brand wants to put silver shimmer in it... Hopefully someone will be more helpful then me.

Nehru is a navy black, it's not a true black..
Carbon is a very dark grey in my opinion.
Shu Uemura M Black 990 is a matte, true blackeyeshadow, especially when used with a slightly damp brush. Black black pigment is very intense too, slightly messy though.

stila's ebony is a matte black and is available at sephora. i also agree with the suggestion of black black pigment.

Go get MAC Graphito paint (now befor eyou start freaking out on me there is a method to the madness) and apply it, then get the MAC Pigment Black Black and apply.

You will have the darkest black eyeshadow EVER

Black Black is just that - super black. But it is really hard to blend and apply evenly. Just wanted to let ya know. I bought it for the same reason but hardly ever use it. Maybe I should try it again...

The reason it is hard to find true black e/s is because they banned the darkest pigment available due to allergy issues. I use Graftobian High-Def Foundation in Nighfall. I know it sounds very strange to use it as e/s, but it is DARK DARK DARK, uber black. I then pat a matte black shadow over, I use MUFE Black 4. I like the foundation b/c it is easy to shape with a liner brush and stays put.

Try wearing Blacktrack fluidline as eyeshadow, it's intense, though the look of it is a wee bit shiny. To avoid that and intensify it further you can put black eye shadow on top....

Why don't you want Carbon, though - it fits the bill of what you're looking for PERFECTLY, being both very intense, AND very truly black INHO.

I agree Carbon is black. There's nothing grey about it. Try using Blacktrack as a base and then packing on Carbon.

Inglot's matte black (you can see a tiny bit of sparkle in the pan but it comes out matte) and Lancome's Color Design shadow in Statuesque are both good

I'm still always on the hunt for a black black though! I will have to try some of these suggestions.

Has anyone tried NARS' Zardoz cream shadow?
How about Manic Panic's Raven powder shadow?
