Im just concerned that with the voltage in the US being 110/120v they just wont heat up as there isnt enough power for them?

I wouldn't use them in the States...I can't remember why, but my boy worked out a good theory.

Anyways, you might be better off getting a pair of gas powered ones if you're travelling. I ended up buying a pair in the US because we go there so often (my parents live there).

You would need to get a converter from the electric store, but since it is a heating tool, you actually need one that is over the limit that's usually written on there. I had the opposite problem, I brough my Canadian 115V to Switzerland (220V) and the power was too much there. So yeah, it probably will not heat to the correct level. It's very annoying. I now have 2 hairdryers and 2 straighteners that I can use in N. America and in Europe.

For future, you may want to ask when you guy en electronic device for the INTERNATIONAL version, which usually has a built in converter/transformer that will let you use it for both 220V and 115V. They are usually a bit more expensive though.
