help out at your local animal shelter... Those places are ALWAYS in need of help and I think everyone should help atleast once at one of those places... I used to volunteer at a local shelter just to help, im a HUGE animal advocate... plus you get to play with all the puppies and kitties!

animal shelters, food donation centers, children's mentor programs (like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, I'm not sure of organizations in the UK)

My boyfriend did some volunteer work for his company (computer help desk), and they worked on computers for a non-profit organization. So sometimes there's stuff you wouldn't even think of.

There's a section for volunteer work in the classifieds in some of the papers I read. You'll probably have better luck with alternative newspapers, like Creative Loafing. Also check out Craigslist.

How old are you?

What are you interested in?

I'm looking for new volunteers for Make-A-Wish UK in the Eastern region.

Yeah best thing is to ask around, but bear in mind for working with kids you'll prob need a CRB check which can take a few weeks.

Children's Hospital. They're always looking for people to be big brothers and sisters in the play areas. Back home I face-painted a few times at the children's wing of the local hospital, and it was really lovely to do.

I'm finishing up a little bit of corrective make-up training, then I'm joining a group that teaches women (and men) going through chemo how to apply subtle make-up to bring back the life to their skin.
