if you get the chinese characters please make absolutely sure that they're correct. i've seen many a people walking around with what they "think" means something, but isn't. with one shift of a stroke you have a completely different meaning.

Hahaha! I always wonder that, but since I can't really read it, I make up incorrect mearnings just to amuse myself.
I had a shirt once with Chinese characters on it, but I had no idea what it said so I had to stop wearing it. With my luck, it would have said 'I smell like poo' or 'I didn't shower today' or something equally as gross.

But as far as the tattoo goes, I love them there....you just have to be very committed to the design and placement before you get it done. If I continue this teaching thing I'll never be able to get one :-( but I supoose I can survive without it.
I'd rather not have to wear my hair down all the time-especially w/ art, I'm always pulling my hair back, or have to put makeup on it every day.

I remember when britney spears got the tattoo on the back of her neck it was supposed to be some Kabbalah saying, but ended up as jibberish.

My personal policy for tattoos is to always get them where they can be hidden if you want and/or need them to be hidden.

Sometimes that has come in handy...

That's so true! Don't just pick any piece of flash out of the books at the shop. Really research it or have someone draw it for you that knows the characters.

Ditto. I'm not having kanji done for mine. But all the same, the idea and concept are taking a while to work out (that and I need a good artist). But in the end, it'll be gorgeous & exactly what I want.

I have a tattoo behind each ear...both are Hawaiin flowers. I love them! I am constantly getting compliments about them...I think because it's sort of an unusual spot.

I have a few tats my self, and I love them, but if your getting writing make sure its really what you want, that it would be easy to cover up and that you want it for life, because they are not easy or painfree to remove or get done.

also make sure you get a good, great artist doing the work [a good tattoo artist will have a book of work as well as they should sit down with you and sketch out what you want and will work with you on it untill it is done and being trans to temp. remember this is going on your body if you dont like anything about it say it then when it can be changed.

sometimes they will be working on somebody else when you come into the shop, you can most of the time watch and see if you like their work then too]
