Shopaholic series, The Devil Wears Prada, Ex Girlfriends, A/The year of living famous(ly), and Elegance are all really good chic lit books.
I'm currently reading The Da Vinci Code (I know, so cliche but I have to see the movie...) and it's suprisingly good.
I'd recc more but all my books are in boxes so I can't see what I have

John Irving is my favorite author. Some of his best and well known books include:

- The World According to Garp
- Cider House Rules
- Prayer for Owen Meany

I love his style. If you have to pick only one to read, I recommend Garp. It is such a beautiful story!

Well, you really have to like this sort of 'thing', but I'm reading "The Count Of Monte Cristo" right now, and I can't get my nose out of it!! Reading the Lit. classics are great. Barnes and Noble has a whole section of these books they reprinted, and you can get them super cheap (Tolstoy, Dante, Machiavelli, Dostoevsky, etc. etc.)...For American classics, try Emily or Charlotte Bronte, or anything written by Jane Austen (she's wonderful!).

I'm also a big fan of 'True Crime'...but, again..you've gotta like that stuff (I'm in Criminal Psych., so it's right up my alley)...you've gotta be able to read horrible things and not let them stick in your psyche. Anne Rule is the guru of the true crime genre...anything by her is extremely intriguing...I mean cannot-put-book-down type writing...she's great!!! Hope that helps you a bit. Let us know what you pick up...

depends on what you like...just a couple of my favorites

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (and the 5 other books in the series)
My all-time favorite. The book that revived my love of reading after years of assigned readings that I hated.

The Sandman series by Neil Gaiman
There are actually 10 books in this series, so it's kind of expensive, but definitely worth it. Amazing story.

Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein

The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett
really funny, quick reads
