Just finished 'An Unquiet Mind' by Kay Redfield Jamison. On the search for a very fun, upbeat book now (that one will get you kinda down..).

I always recommend The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for a good laugh!

I'm currently reading Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein, and System of the World by Neal Stephenson, the third and final book of a very long epic.

I'm reading Aftermath, by Charles Sheffield. I LOVE sci-fi!
Litlaur- I just read Stranger in a Strange Land a couple months ago! How coincidental.

I just read Mr Norrell & Johnathan Strange - I forget the authors name ! -
it was a great tome of a book full of magicians and victorian language, I loved it and didnt want it to end.

And the book I read recently which made me laugh and laugh so much was by Jonathan Ames "wake up , sir!" -

David Sedaris & Laurie Notaro are both hilarious. "Holidays on Ice" (Sedaris) is a quick read and perfect for the holiday season!

galleygirl, if you're looking for a good read i suggest 'the glass castle' by jeannette walls. it's a true story, based on her life growing up with nomad parents who had non-tradional values and outlooks on life.

I just finished The Palliser Novels by Anthony Trollope, the six books have taken me 4 years (not reading constantly). They started off as darkroom books to keep me entertained while I was printing, and then I couldn't stop!

It's always really sad to finish a series like that.

I'm too poor to buy another book for a while (and still annoyed at the Boy who gave away my copy of Norell and Strange while I was still reading it!)...it will have to be sewing for a while..

i'm embarrassed to admit it, but with all the reading i do for school, i can indulge a little in chick lit...its lipstick jungle by candance bushnell, same author as sex and the city, and a very good read i might add. it's not cliche, the three main characters are all very smart and successful, and it's overpowering to read their triumphs and struggles as they fight "gender roles" and not being as rich or successful as their male counterparts...
