What do you think happens at MAC behind the scenes when they're making new colours?

Curious..do they throw crazy colour ideas at eachother and then go to the lab and order some new combinations? Are they very systematic about it or as arty and inspired based as we'd like to believe?
Who decides which colour gets through? Wonder what the rejects look like!!

(how do you insert smileys without typing in this new forum format? Have been puzzled for months)

I think there's a bunch a cauldrons, incantations, spells, etc. in their labs.

This must be REALLY busy this time of year for them! Heheheh...

I bet it's really boring, probably a bunch of old dudes sitting around in a board room throwing out ideas for things they know nothing about lol! No seriously I bet they have their creative team who dreams up the ideas, and then they have their chemists who they set to work on concocting the stuff. After that they make up a bunch of samples to see how it all turned out & then the head honchos probably choose what they like the best. This is, of course, mere speculation.

Well, with their colors lately I almost think "they" go around picking up colors from other brands (even drugstore brands) and try to change it up a bit. For example Milani Shock is very close to Stars'n'Rockets. Although somehow MAC managed to get a frenzy out Parrot there were/are tons of colors like it. I personally think they need to focus on more pigment colors and stop making the nice ones LE. I'd love to see them make a really good foundation and improve Fibre Rich but that's a whole different subject.

As for their colors I will always have interest in MAC's new collections but I am starting to slow down on my buying until they come out with some colors that are more original.
It would be nice to get behind the scenes and find out what really goes on!

have you guys read "colour story" -- it is an awesome book which goes behind the scenes of the LE collections and is fun and easy to read. it has the answers you're looking for.
