What makes the sparkles in beauty marked eyeshadow show up?

like many people on here, i got suckered into beauty marked b/c of the way it looked in the pot. it was actually my first MAC shadow. went home, tried it on, and got disappointed that it just showed up BLACK with the tiniest bit of the sparkles showing. for me, i've found that using loose lips NY's gel eyeliner in black cherry works. but it's a bit hard to work with since it's kind of dry. drier than fluidline. idk if it's supposed to be like that or if i just got a bad pot. so what works for you?

Using a purple base; ie a purple shadestick, eye liner, ccb, anything purple as a base should make it pop.

I've also heard here on Specktra that a red base works as well.

try using studio fix/mixing medium because making it wet makes it shinnier which may make the sparkles show more.

i've tried it with nice vice paint pot, but the sparkles still don't show.

And I second trying it with Flammable, but personally, I use it with Fresco rose paint pot :3

I agree I use artifact p/p or blackground p/p. With that particular finish eyeshadow you just need to use a good cream base or some sort. Like someone above mentioned try smudging a cream eyeliner on your lid as a base. The new Pearlglide eyeliners coming out in October would be perfect

Artjam paints is a good one to use. Red pigments (that are eye-safe) should work, also. I can't try that, since I don't have any red pigments, but it's worth looking into if you have the supplies.

Beauty Marked reminds me of the Night shadows NARS has...not only do you need a good base, but you can't overblend these types of shadows. Layer it on with a patting motion and gently blending the edges out will help keep the sparkles in tact.

I use Too Faced First Base Shadow Primer and then apply sparkley shadow on in a rolling, patting motion rather than like I was wiping windows. Avoid blending too much, stipple instead.

I use it over a reddish plum lipliner that i dont use anymore. its a revlon, and i dont know the color name off the top of my head, but beauty marked looks fab over it!!! its creamy so it adheres well and like everyone says stiple or pat dont over blend it in.

I had the same issue - I used some Loreal HIP creme liner in black as a base and it really helped - made the sparkles pop

press the shadow onto a creamy base instead of blending. this is how you get the sparkles to show up better with velvet finishes (black tied, trax, creme de violet).
