Does anybody watch "What Not to Wear?" I am trying to find out what the spray-on foundation Carmindy always uses. I've only seen Dior and Sally Hansen spray-ons and I know she's not using those. Help! TIA!!

ERA is now discontinued at Sephora, but you can get it online at www.classifiedcosmetics.com or in select boutiques. It's one of my favorite foundations...wears like iron!! Carmindy applies it differently than the company recommends, but I've tried her way and it works fine too.

I'm curious what her application method is? I rarely get to watch the show, as I do not have television at home.

Yup, she uses a sponge, not the big puff.

Recently I tried it with a foundation brush and the 187 brush and I've had good results but I prefer the ease of just spraying it on and buffing.

i mean, ive spent just as much on chanel's foundation -- onlee to be disappointed by it!! is it really worth it? and typically, how long does it last?? ooh..and how does it compare to dior's foundation?

Yeah, it is pricey.

I haven't tried Dior's version, or any Chanel foundation so I can't compare.

This is a recent splurge for me. Since it's so $$$, I think a couple things are important.

-Getting a perfect shade match, which can be done if you can find a store in your area that carries it. If that's not possible, use the website's shade matcher and order from someplace that has a good return policy.

-Application!! Let me tell you, it is really scary the first time you spray it on, but if you follow the instructions it will turn out fine, and by the 3rd or 4th time using it, you will feel like a pro! Now I think it's easier to use than my liquid foundations, because you just buff it...no brushes or fingers.

What makes it worth it IMHO is the finish and the WEAR. I live in the South where it is hot and humid and this stuff lasts and lasts without smudging, guards against oilies better than anything, and is a really good base (ie: my blush lasts forever too). This is what I wear when I know I have to look good for hours and I can't get to a mirror to touch up. 8)

I wish I could tell you how long a bottle lasts, but I haven't had mine for long. Using it every day, I presume it would last 3-4 months but that is a total guess. It can also be used as a body foundation which of course would make it last a much shorter time.

Does that help any?

Yes, I'm excited about MAC's version too! I'm sure it will be much more reasonably priced.

The coverage is on the sheer side of medium. Before I spray it on my face, I spray it into my palm and use that as concealor. Those two steps usually gives me enough coverage and my skin is nowhere near perfect to begin with. I've done a second coat before and it doesn't look too cakey or anything, but it got a little dark looking because I'm so fair.

Like I said before, one coat is about medium coverage. Yes, I have used it for full coverage without experiencing caking. I usually don't do two coats all over (not really necessary for me) but I have sprayed some areas of my face more than once. Just use the puff as directed and pat all over (after you're done spraying), then buff to get a natural finish. I top it with MAC Blot Powder.

I have red acne scars along my jawline and I usually give this area an extra spritz after the initial all-over spray. When I do this, I don't have any need for concealer. It doesn't get cakey and the finish looks like real skin. It doesn't smudge off so your skin stays covered all day.

HTH!
