"While We Were Hunting Rabbits" and "The Rat Who Would Be King" by Matthew Good make me cry, everytime. They're such beautiful songs, but they are so sad.

"Sometimes It Hurts" by Stabbing Westward is kind of a bummer, too.

I have a few.. these all pertain to my dad, who passed away in November 1999.

"Go Rest High On That Mountain" - Vince Gill
My dad and I both loooooved that song. We had it played at his funeral. I can't listen to it at all now without crying. Heck, I can't even get through the first sentence without tearing up. The song itself is about death. I do still love it, though.. it really is a beautiful song.

"What a Wonderful World" - Louis Armstrong
Another one of dad's favorites.. and also played at his funeral. This one makes me teary, but, not from sadness at all. Instead, it floods me with happiness

"Old Time Rock and Roll" - Bob Seger
Oooooh the memories!! We had our extended family Christmas party at my house one year when I was a teenager. My dad had had a few beers and He and I danced our asses off to that song. I'll never forget that night. So, every year on his birthday, I blast that song and dance by myself.. and smile the entire time. Then, I get teary afterward..

Anything on the AC/DC album "Back in Black"
Dad was a huuuuuge fan of that album!

Ehh, what can I say. I miss my dad

I'm going to dork myself out here, but...

"The Dance" Garth Brooks
"Unanswered Prayers" Garth Brooks

I grew up listening to country (now, I can't stand contemporary country), and everytime I hear these songs I know can *feel* the tears welling up.

"These 3 Words" by Stevie Wonder--My mom died of Hepatitis B in [today, actually, Mar. 19th] '91 and this song came out w/a video a/b a girl who died of cancer, and her parents barely got to say goodbye to her. I didn't get to say goodbye to her, so it sorta goes w/my thing.

Also, "Listen" from the Dreamgirls Sdtk/Beyonce's B-day CD. Just b/c I've been that girl that did everything her guy wanted w/o knowing who she really was. The feeling of coming into your own...listening to that song...it's powerful.

One that comes to mind for me is "Crestfallen" by the Smashing Pumpkins.

Oh and also, "Waiting", "Soot & Stars" and "Behold! The Night Mare". All of their songs get to me in some way. Billy just knows how to tap into emotion.

Uh, hehe, well... Tokio Hotel's song "Spring Nicht" ("Don't Jump") makes me cry a little. It's got a positive message, but, much like REM's "Everybody Hurts," it SOUNDS really depressing!

LOL, watch me get made fun of by all the German members here. I don't care, I freely admit that Tokio Hotel is my favorite band. XD

Velvet Revolver - Falls To Pieces tugs on my heartstrings. i can relate to it and these are the lyrics:

It's been a long year
Since you've been gone
I've been alone here
I've grown old
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

Every time I'm falling down
All alone I fall to pieces

I keep a journal of memories
I'm feeling lonely, I can't breathe
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

All the years I've tried
With more to go
Will the memories die
I'm waiting
Will I find you
Can I find you
We're falling down
I'm falling

Every time I’m falling down
All alone I fall to pieces
Every time I’m falling down
All alone I fall to pieces
Every time I’m falling down
All alone I fall to pieces
Every time I’m falling down
All alone I fall to pieces

Wish You Were Here--Pink Floyd-->played at my Dad's funeral. I was once in the University bookstore and it played, I had to stand in an aisle and wait for it to finish, gain my composure, then go to the checkout. Ugh.

Last Kiss--Pearl Jam (really the old school one I remember hearing when my parents listened to oldies music--right after my Grandma died, this song always made me cry)

One Tin Soldier--another oldies song, can't remember which person/version.

You Raise Me Up--Josh Groban. Another funeral.

Jeez, okay that brought me down a bit this morning!
