What to do when a swapper dissapears?

I really don't know what to do, I hope you can help.

I have made an agreement to swap on MUA. It was quite a big swap and the other person didn't have any tokens, so she agreed to send first. For some reason she made me suspicious, there was something about her profile and the things she said etc. that made me uncomfortable because of the large swap. I just had the strangest feeling she was trying to swaplift me. But she agreed to send first at the end, so that was fine and completely save for me.

We exchanged adresses and she said she would send the following day and contact me, when she had done so. That was february 7th. And I haven't heard anything since. I have written a couple of messages to her and I can see she has been online, and I have heard nothing.

I haven't send anything to her, so I don't have any problem in that way, but how long should I wait untill I leave negative feedback and put my items back for swap? It was quite a big part of my swap list. I don't like to leave negative feedback, but I think it's only fair to warn others.

How long should I wait, and what is the correct procedure here?

Join ST. The usual time to wait is 6-8 weeks, message her and ask her for proof of shipping etc etc But if she hasnt replied to you at all then you might be better to call it a wash & leave a neutral.

ST = swaptalk. You need 20+ tokens/be involved in a problem swap to apply. Lots of good advice on how to handle difficult swaps!

Also, if you havent done this already, check this list EVERY time you swap ~
Swaplifters Page

It contains the names and addresses of known swaplifters so you can cross check your swapper against this list, many reincarnate themselves.

You know what? I have been over our conversation, and she actually never did sent me her adress. Then I am technically not allowed to leave her a token, right?

Umm, addresses need to be exchanged to consider it a "finalised" swap, but if you sent her your address and she declined to send hers then she may not have considered it a done deal. Did she she actually say she was shipping to you and give you a shipping date?

You can still apply to swap talk if you consider this a problem swap - under 20 tokens doesnt preclude you if you fit the problem swap criteria - I would still apply in your situation.

If she actually agreed to the swap and you sent her your address and she confirmed and said she was shipping and just didnt that IMHO justifies a neutral. But if she is a newbie some swappers might just wash it and not worry about the token.

Seriously - I just saw someone's name on that Swaplifters page that I know personally

I've paid her for MAC items through Craigslist and she seemed nice enough. Guess you never really know eh? Maybe thats why she resorted to CL rather than MUA or here.

Sorry to totally hijack your thread....but swaplifters make me sad.

There is a swapper there that I know not to be a swaplifter as well, she had an accident and couldnt respond

Most of them are though, some of them are repeat swaplifters, just look at the list of usernames each of them have!

It makes me wonder if I've bought swaplifted items from her

That would be so bad! Ugh.

And her list of items was insane - she literally could OWN her own Sephora!

Oh man.

yikes.... the repeat usernames are reincarnates - they come back again and again under new names to steal! I hope she isnt selling the items she has stolen on CL

Yes she said she would send it last monday. Then I asked for her adress and she never replied. I just see that now. Does that qualify for a neutral token?

I would drop her another message and just ask her when she shipped/does she plan to ship etc etc. You might want to tell her if she doesnt reply you are going to relist your swap items and leave a neutral for non communication - please bear in mind that new swappers have a limit of 10 messages per day. If she's new you might just leave it at that if she doesnt reply, you havent lost anything since she was sending first and lots of newbies pull out; I try to cut them some slack. Its hard to have to send first to people you dont know using a system you dont trust. If she has a few tokens though she should be familiar with the system and a neutral might be warranted.
