What's YOUR fave matte black & white shadow?

Ok, so I almost feel like matte black and white e/s are ESSENTIAL in the make up kit. OR... at least matte black and a perfect satin or matte highlighter.

I just recently bought Carbon and Gesso from MAC... both disappointing. Both were washed out. I expected this from Gesso but not Carbon!

I'm looking for an INTENSELY pigmented black and highlight. Any suggestions guys?

I have heard that the black in a NARS duo puts carbon to "shame" I think it's called Pandora or something but the white is shimmery.

the stila purrfectly kitten palette has a great black, but I can't remember if it's matte or not.

Mm, from general consensus I hear that Carbon is pretty much the blackest black available. Maybe it's your technique? Carbon is quite easily blendable so if you're sweeping it on it could be sheered out - part of why Carbon is so awesome, you can adjust its intensity and suit a number of different looks. Try a good primer (even a black primer) + a flat, stiffer brush to "pat" on the shadow as opposed to a fluffy sweep of Carbon.

i still haven't found a good white one that doesn't look veil'ish on my brown skin

but as for black, i am a lot luckier lol. MAC's black pigment, the matte one (dunno if its now a pro color or not) is really serious on me, and Kat Von D's matte black in Lucifer is pretty serious as well.

as someone suggested earlier, using a paintpot can help. i just haven't done this yet myself, so good luck

MUD, Make Up Designory the school I went to had pallettes made for their students and are intensely pigmented.

The white if I remember correctly is slightly irridescent but I went many years ago and I have seen them add more colors recently.

Another one for Carbon. I'm surprised you're not feeling it.

I also have NYX Black 01. Its very very similar to Carbon but for $3 doesnt hurt to try. Its very matte and creamy (for a powder eyeshadow sounds weird I know but its a beautiful texture)

I agree with the above technique for Carbon. I am NC50 or NW45 and it's the blackes black I've ever been able to find. I prefer MAC Pro Pure White Pigment for a matte white. I did not like Gesso, it wasn't white white on me.
