When will Hawaii get Sweetie Cake?

Just a quick question....

I live in Sydney, Australia and the Sweetie Cake collection won't be here until September. I'm off on holidays to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and land on the 16th April. The US release date is the 14th April - so will Hawaii (waikiki) have them by then?

I'd love to be able to get some bits and pieces while I'm there!

yes, we're part of the US so we get everything that they get, but for some reason the counters get it in a little later. the freestanding store is the best bet when it comes to getting their collections in on time, but the Macy's department stores will probably put theirs out a week later.

Waikiki has two choices for MAC- the DFS Galleria and the Macy's right down the street from there. The freestanding store is in Ala Moana, a mall that's nearby. There's also several other counters around the island in assorted Macy's.

Woo Hoo - Thanks for the info! I'm only going to be there for a week and am trying to map out my purchases, leaving enough time to do things life surfing lessons and snorkling!

I've heard that places in Waikiki offer fantastic GWP's. We get nothing in Australia. Do MAC have things like that there? Should I go to Macy's in the hope of GWP's from a different brand?

What's Sephora like? Do they stock Biotherm? Sorry for all the q's - so little time, too many things to buy!

I've never heard of MAC offering a GWP. The store might sample products for you.

Generally, Clinique, Lancome, and EL are the main GWP lines. Sometimes other lines will give samples with purchases.

Every Sephora carries different lines although I do know they sell it on the website. Biotherm is also sold in department stores like Foley's so you might be able to find it elsewhere if it's not at sephora.

My husband went to Hawaii almost two years ago and had tons of fun. I couldn't go because I was 2 weeks away from giving birth

Thanks for the info MargaretD. I would much prefer to be having a bub than buying make up, as I've been trying with no luck for a while now. Congrats on your little miracle!

I'm not sure if they sell Biotherm at Sephora but I do know the Macy's in Ala Moana does.

I live on the big island of Hawaii. There is exactly two places on the island to buy MAC, both at a Macy's counter. They always get their shit waaaaaaay late. yes, it sucks.

Oh gosh, I know what you mean. I live in Hilo and I get the collections earlier (even if it takes 1 week shipping) if I order online then the counter itself.

The people at Sephora are always nice to me and help me out and a bunch of MAC people probably recognize me after awhile, so the service is nothing to complain about there as well as Lush (I FINALLY went in). The people at other stores however, especially the higher end ones, are b*tches if you're not a Japanese tourist who spends a lot of money.

And there is no GWP with Macy's and MAC. They do however have other lines with GWP like Lancome, Clinique and Estee Lauder. When it comes to GWP, it's usually the same throughout the island (from what I've noticed). You can TRY Neiman Marcus (also in Ala Moana), but I'm not sure what they have since I don't usually stop in there.

I'm really not sure about Biotherm at Sephora. Next time I stop by Ala's, I'll look- I'll probably go this weekend for a friend's bday gift. They are going through renovations right now, so it's a bit messy. I don't know if it'll be cleaned up by the time you get there. It looked HORRIBLE last week-so dusty! It IS worth the trip though and they do have a lot of stuff.

It's not that. It's because Japanese tourists in Japan save their money and come to Hawaii and spend TONS OF IT. When I'm talking tons, I mean they're walking out of the Gucci store with more bags than their skinny little bodies can carry! They drop thousands in a blink of an eye- and I've seen it happen- on the dumbest things. As long as there's a name brand on it or it's a flashy color, they're so for it.

and don't worry-- I'm a "local" Japanese (born and raised in Hawaii so I look completely different) and they don't even look my way!

I don't think she was talking about MAC exclusively. It sounds like she meant Ala's as a whole.

I went to Hawaii 2years ago for a friends wedding (3 days maui 3 days Oahu) and then last year (Feb 5th-20th) for 2weeks for my honeymoon (1week in wailei, maui and one week in waikiki,Oahu) and I LOVEEEDDD ITT I can't even think about it now because it makes me depressed, it was sooo pretty. But while I was there I went to the Macy's @ Ala moana and we went to See's Candy and Neiman Marcus and I thought they were all pretty nice of course I didn't browse or take in The customer service as we were on our Honeymoon and we went in got what we needed and left, but you can't go by me you couldn't pay me to say one bad thing about either Island I went to I loved the whole environment.

That reminds me, my husband and I made a deal while we were there to go back every year and we've been married over a year and we haven't been back yet! Hmmmm time for a talk later lol!

No kidding. I went into the Coach store for my boyfriend's mom (and isn't Coach considered lower end-high end?) and they were ultra snooty to me.) Actually, when I think about it, they were MUCH nicer to me at the LV store when I tagged along with my baller friend.

ha! Just a little while ago, our environment was the WORST! I mean, how many days of rain did they report? 41 with only ONE day of sunshine within that. Brandi can attest to that. I felt so bad for all the tourists who were stuck indoors!

Oh, and let's not forget the SEWAGE SPILL IN WAIKIKI!! The sewers overflowed from the rain and they had to pump the rest of the sewage into the Ala Wai Canal-- which is in the middle of Waikiki. That whole area around it literally smells like sh*t and some guy fell in while he was drunk and now contracted a FLESH EATING DISEASE and was given his last rites a little while ago. He's already lost a leg and his kidneys and liver both shut down.

I think the freestanding store at Ala Moana is usually pretty good about getting things in on time. Here in Hilo, where I live, things are pretty much ALWAYS late! They just got Classic Coordinates a couple days ago! Most of the time I order online and get it before the Macy's counter in Hilo gets the stuff.

Enjoy your vacation on Oahu!
