You know how when you work at the counter and leave your bag behind in the back room? How do you protect your personal belongings so people don't steal them? Do they have a security camera in the back room. Sorry, it's just that i've lost a lot of stuff when i was working before, so now i'm a little paranoid....Thanks!

You don't have a locker or anything?

I would first minimize what you carry on you. Bare minimum, like keys, bus pass (if you take public transport), maybe a cell phone. Keep cash and credit cards on yourself.

Tell everyone you're gonna beat the sh*t out of them if anything is missing when you come back.
If that doesnt work, tell them you're a voodoo queen coming straight out of the swamp. j/k

Sometimes there's still a empty drawer at a counter where you can put your stuff. If not, you should try to really keep your stuff with you. I'd put my money/cell phone in my brush belt, some of them actually have enough space for a cellphone, a little money and keys.

Talk to your manager. S/he needs to be aware if you suspect your items are being stolen. S/he has an interest in providing you with a safe, secure place to keep your belongings.

Is it MAC you're talking about? It's been my experiences that you all are working together, so closely & it's a pretty small staff so that there isn't really much of a problem.

When I worked at a MAC store we all kept our stuff in the back (permanent employees had lockers). I never had a problem there...except once, one of my friends & I mixed up coats. There was no camera in the back cause it was also the bathroom.
At Macy*s we all have to carry clear bags...everyone puts their stuff in a drawer behind the register. As far as I know, we've never had a problem w/ theft, but I would still keep what you bring down to a minimum...I leave my purse in my car's trunk & just bring in my cell phone, iPod, money, a credit card or two & a lipstick/gloss/mirror for quick touch ups, and most of that I keep in my belt/pocket.

i work at a dept. store and while there's a coat room available; we have the option of bringing wallets, car keys, etc. up to our counters as long as they're in a clear bag; anything that doesn't go into the clear bag i just leave in my car...

I keep the items in my purse to a bare minimum and never have much cash in there.
All you can do is be aware of what you have with you so that if anything ever comes up missing you can report it immediately. You will have to put your faith in people to a certain extent. If anything, even if it's tiny, is ever missing, you should report it to a manager right away. If someone has the audacity to steal from a co-worker you can bet that they're stealing from the store.
I've been working retail for five years and I've never had a problem or known anyone that has.
